Challenge Title: The Shape of Things Hostess: MISTI Monday Keyword: MSP22 Date: June 3rd, 2019
Hello ladies (and gents if any enter),
Welcome to June and the new MISTI Monday Challenge. I hope you all had a great May! Mine went by so very fast! Preparing one daughter to move to New York, another daughter came home from Italy, I bought a car so my newly employed 18 year old son had some wheels to drive to work and I've been working a lot at my job and doing crafty stuff.
This month's challenge was born when a circular card popped up on my Facebook feed by a card maker I'm friends with. It was so pretty and I thought to myself, I always make A2 sized cards with an occasional 5x7 mixed in. Perfect, I thought, for the June Challenge here on SCS.
I've never made a shaped card, so this was a challenge for me, as well.
I used a stitched circle die I had in my stash to create the card base. I folded my cardstock and positioned the die on it so that the fold was not cut for about an inch and a half. I then went to decorating it, first with some patterned paper and then some cute doodle type stamps. I'm not a coloring person, it's intimidating to me, so I challenged myself to use my copics I have that are collecting dust. I just picked out colors that looked like they went together and tried the flicking method very loosely. I fussy cut all my florals and arranged them on the card. I finished it off with the hi! sentiment and sequins for some bling. I had also put some silver washi tape between the patterned paper and the white card base for a finished edge.
Here's the result!

Supplies used were Gina K stamps, copic markers and a random piece of patterned paper from who knows where. Laughing because I have a lot of that. My MISTI for stamping all the florals at the same time and precision multiple pressing for a dark crisp image.
As you can see, my card will fit into an A2 sized envelope if I'd like to mail it. I'll probably cut a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 piece of cardstock to stick in the envelope with the card so the corners don't get smooshed in the mail.
Your Challenge this month is to create a shaped card, other than our traditional rectangle. Circle, Triangle, Square, etc. If you'd like to make a shaped tag, you are welcome to do that as well. Try for something other than the traditional tag shape.
Good luck with all your cards/tags! This was fun creating this tonight I usually have a specific person in mind for my cards I create for this challenge, but tonight I didn't. Who would you send a hi! card to this month?
I will be at JunkieFest in Minneapolis from June 22nd thru July 1st. If I happen to not announce the winner on the 30th, it's because I am exhausted and forgot. Finger crossed I realize what day it is...laughing.
The winner of this month's challenge will receive a $50 store credit to My Sweet Petunia. Happy June!

I need to know more about a Junkie Fest in MPS...I live in MN, just not in MSP but I do live in what is often referred to as the "7-county" metro...the southern county line is 2 1/2 miles south of me!!!
I was just in NY...here's a cut and paste I typed elsewhere... I am back from my passenger trip with my favorite cousin! It had hiccups but not one when we went into Canada!
1 sick favorite cousin produced 2 ER visits...one in Niagara Falls, one in my little home town on our return (she had decided to not return to NF)
Also it produced the need for the passenger to become a driver! Bridges, large cities and freeways are not my friends!!!
We were at several quilt stores, the Ark Encounter, Niagara Falls (USA and Canada), Corvette Museum, Hancock's of Paducah and then the 2 ERs. Nine days of experience for learning purposes if not pleasure!!!!
I hope to play "ketchup" next week in the stamp room. I left a clean house (except my husband had to vacuum after I left) and I came home to a clean house...so the mess of the house is mine!
Stress lodged in my sciatica, chiro helped a smidge but need another adjustment tomorrow...making wise food choices while gone produced a 4-pound weight loss!
Excited about a shape card, I've made a few so I know how to make them!

I’ve never made a shaped card but I like a challenge and the concept and I have lots of dues. I shall see if I can make one work.
Lisa your card is gorgeous.
Happy day everyone

Just checking in! Hope everyone had a great day! No card making for me until at least Wednesday. I'm still on this shaped card kick. I have an idea in my head....but I can't find the stamp! I have the matching die...where oh where does my stuff go? Gremlins, I say.
Thanks Ladies! Entries are fabulous so far!

I am so far behind in challenges but this one has an important deadline! Thanks for the challenge MISTI Monday. I've been working on a yearly letter that is not yearly anymore and I make mostly all different cards to go with the letter...about 100 cards needed.
It will go to my daughter and her family who have a Siberian Husky and if she had her way they would have a full house of them! Fortunately they live in a tiny apartment currently. We dog sit when they go away for a weekend like this one!

FayeMakesCards, where did you get that Huskey stamp from? I love it! I had two huskies and my neighbor and friend currently has one. I would love to get it!
Here is another shape card...I actually made 2 of these. I am finding that it works better to use thinner cardstock for the shape card to get the detail to punch out...I use Michael's 110 lb, when doubled I had to trim the pieces of the cardstock (don't look too close or you will be able to tell).
Faye your cards are beautiful and I couldn’t tell that you had cut some of the CS off... gorgeous cards.

And on that note...I must complete my shaped cards...I did cut the does a few days ago and that’s as far as it has got.

Faye did you put the butterfly over the top of your paper so it didn’t cut and just open? Mine worked first time...it’s small though lol

Side note...and maybe this comment belongs elsewhere but here I go!
I've been scoring and folding cardstock the past 2 weeks...score using the Scor-Pal, fold using the MISTI...tuck the piece into the corner, fold over and get a nice square corner!
So many uses for the MISTI every day.
Happy winner.

Sigh. What can you do? I had made a bunch of great shaped tags, finally finished them yesterday evening, and Mr. Wonderful went to bed early- my computer is in HIS bedroom, so I couldn't upload them. Phooey!
Congratulations to Dsk1 for winning this month's challenge! Her cute scalloped Christmas card used the eclipse technique. So cute! Congratulations! I'll be messaging you!
Yay!
