Anyone is welcome to play in the weekly Teapot Challenge - the more, the merrier! You automatically become a “TEApotter” the first time you play. Where will you find inspiration? Will it be from the teapot? The destination location? Something of the recipient? Or could it be from the challenge itself? Remember, your participation in the Destination Station is 100% voluntary and not a requirement. Just have fun!
CHALLENGE: Music has the power to heal. For this week’s card I want you to think of a happy, upbeat, or uplifting song and make a card based on it. DESTINATION STATION This week’s destination comes at the request of SCS regular, Chatterbox-1(Carlene). Unfortunately, Carlene’s younger sister, Heidi is having to be in Arizona for a few weeks while she receives treatment at the Cancer Centers of America. While she is there, Carlene thought it would be nice for Heidi to receive some encouraging cards. Heidi is an avid cardmaker and crafter and is Carlene’s original cardmaking mentor. Heidi introduced Carlene to the Splitcoasterstampers site (and we’re glad she did) back in 2009.
Heidi likes all colors, is religious, loves flowers, cute animal images, cute people image, etc., lake/boating and Papertrey Ink (PTI) is her favorite stamp/die online store. Her cardmaking style is classic and simple vintage. It usually involves lots of layers, ribbon & lace embellishments, some sequins, enamel dots, and pearls. She does have a blog although, she’s not very active with it - but check it out if you’d like to see some of her lovely work at mylilscrapcorner.blogspot.com. Let’s show a fellow crafter some love and support by sending her some warm and comforting thoughts to help get her through this tough time.

Great challenge Pat! I was thinking of the song I'm a Believer by the Monkees for inspiration....but alas I'm still unable to do any crafting with my wrist...I'll send Heidi a card from my stash. I hope I'll be back in the swing of things next week..fingers crossed. :p
I will be sending a card made from Spellbinders small die of the month, with layered flowers. One of these days I'll have my daughter show me how to post a pic of my cards.

I am definitely making a card for Heidi. Just been a crazy, busy week. I'll get it made. I may get it posted...may not. But, it will for sure be in the mail.

I'm also late. I just returned from a trip south to California to visit my Mom for Mother's Day, and I'm now just seeing this wonderful Teapot challenge tribute for my sister, Heidi.
She is having a tough time of it, as she had to return to Arizona much sooner than she thought, so has been there since April 25th. Her husband had to return home at the beginning of May as he has a business to run, so she has been alone, which has been hard for Mom and I to be okay with, but she says she is probably better alone and focusing on what she needs to be doing. The staff at the Cancer Center are so warm, friendly, and caring that she is doing as well as can be expected with the treatment side effects, and they are right there at any moment if she needs something.
She is now scheduled to return home after her final treatment around June 8th for three months when she will return to Arizona for followup.
I talked her to before leaving California, and she had already received her first card, and she was delighted! Thank you all so much for bringing smiles and warmth to her heart!

So I have this problem when I do challenges. Often my idea from start to finish changes immensely and I often get off track and forget I was actually working within the confines of a challenge. I'll be happy with my finished card, but then realize I totally failed the challenge. LOL! For the Teapot challenges I don't worry too much because as long as I'm happy with the card, I know the real reason is to send some joy to someone. For color or sketch challenges, my end product is often much, much more comically wrong and I don't even bother posting. Oh well. I still have fun.
So this is my card for Heidi that got lost along the way, but is still going in the mail tomorrow.
And by the way, if you send a late challenge...Heidi will be in Arizona longer than expected as she has had some set backs. Cards can still go to her treatment address until at least June 10th.

I never got to participate in this challenge when presented for my own sister, so decided to play challenge catch up and Christmas card catch up with a card that depicts a musical Christmas themed card. There are so many happy Christmas songs that bring joy to my heart. Here is my card, that maybe I might send to Heidi for Christmas next year: A Christmas Sing-A-Long...Simple Add Music!
