MAY 2019 Mission - CARDS FOR A CAUSE
2019 Cards For A Cause MAY MISSION
Stamp from the Heart!
ORGANIZATION BEING FEATURED:
Forgotten children worldwide Protect Vulnerable Children - Forgotten Children Worldwide, Administrator: Jeff Patterson
DESCRIPTION:
Cards needed for children overseas through their clothing donation boxes and represented children. I have been asked to coordinate card making events at the foundation and thought what a wonderful opportunity to have card makers donate their cards as well! They serve approx. 80,000 kids overseas through clothing donation boxes and the administrator Jeff Patterson wants to send cards in these boxes to give kids a smile, hope and encouragement.
You can donate directly to them here...
Forgotten Children Worldwide,
Attn: Jeff Patterson
650 N Main Street
Bluffton, IN 46714
CONTACT PERSON:
Teresa - va.sunshine
Referred by:
Angie - angieh29
TYPE OF CARDS REQUESTED:
Kids cards from ages 0-21 and we are making celebrate you, encouragement, thinking of you, praying for you and graduation type cards!
SPECIAL RESTRICTIONS:
We can't have cards that reference family, father, son, mom, brother etc...as many of these kids do not have families. Also prefer cards that do not reference food, cake, ice cream, gifts, presents, money, or political...etc
GUIDELINES:
Please keep in mind, we are representing SCS by sending our cards each month. Recycling is always good, but only use products on your cards that you would like to receive on cards. Also, our card donations are not tax deductible and it is not required. Please do not ask for a receipt. There have been groups that will send thank you's but the "referred by" person keeps us informed and passes on the thank you's. Most of these organizations are volunteers and spend countless hours helping others, let's help make their jobs easier and bless them in helping others.

We do understand that there is a time and a seaons for everything. Thanks so much for all you've done in the past.
Zella
And Thank You Zella for taking this on.
QUESTION, would it be better to not put words on the cards since we don't know what country and therefore what language they speak?

I have always loved this group...and even though my cardmaking time is limited these days I'm excited to be able to keep this group going!!! To each and every one of you - the gift you give through your cardmaking is truly a blessing those who receive them.
If anyone has any "cause" they would like to be featured, please feel free to send me a private message here through SCS or you can email directly at [email protected].
I'm looking forward to see what great things come from this group of wonderful, generous, talented cardmakers!!!!
Blessings - Zella

Veterans
Good morning group!! Yesterday I had an experience that still has my heart aching. My husband and I were exciting the expressway and there was one of those people holding a sign saying he was a homeless veteran. I must be honest and say that I don't always give something to them....but my heart went out to him so I grabbed a lose $5 and my hubby honked the horn to let him know we had something for him. What I saw next has shaken me to my core. This kind man got up and dragging his foot behind him in a way that shouldn't be able to be done with all your bones connected properly he hobbled to our car using a stick as a cane. He told us he broke his cane and was using the stick he found. I couldnt help but be moved. It got me to thinking about veterans.... So here is where you come in.....if anyone has a local VA organization they would like to send cards to please let me know. These men and women give themselves for us to live in this great country. This could be an opportunity to give back. I know that there is a large group of that sends cards to active service people so I thought it would be great to have a month where we focus on vets. Feel free to send me a private message here or email me at [email protected]. Have a blessed day!!!❤❤

Awesome Idea! When my father was living he was a member of the local VFW. I made cards for the chaplain and for them to take on their monthly visits to the VA retirement home and to the VA hospital. I'll try to reconnect with them and see if they need any.

WOW - I feel bad for not having checked in for a bit -
First - Welcome Zella! and Best of Luck to you Teresa! I've enjoyed working with this group - and hope to continue to for a while to come!
And Secondly - Yes - I'll be sending cards for the kids -
I have been pretty tied up recently with one of my passions - and given Zella's request - I'm going to share.
I was privileged to have been a Guardian on Honor Flight this past Saturday, escorting one of 87 Very Important Veterans to visit his Monuments in Washington DC. More than being a Guardian - for every Honor Flight in my area I try to assist by making cards for those Veterans who don't have many family or friends who can be contacted to write Thank You for Your Service cards and letters. I help out as i can, trying to make sure there is at least one personal card in each Veteran's Mail Call Envelope with a personal Thank You/Hope you had a Great Day on Honor Flight message in it.
I would like to propose that if we're going to take on a cause for Veterans, that we look to Honor Flight Hubs. There are always Veterans on these flights who are light to completely lacking in mail - and I'm sure this fine group of crafters could fill quite a few Mail Call Envelopes!
Honor Flights across the nation are currently flying the last of the surviving WWII veterans along with Korean War and a few Vietnam Veterans, all of whom deserve a Thank You for your Service.
For more information, or to locate your Local Honor Flight Hub, you can go to the National Honor Flight site.

Sixty cards (I think there were sixty) sent today. This was a fun one. I had to get creative with what I used since a number of the usual kids things in my stash were not approprite for this group. But I got the creative juices going and had a ball coming up with special cards for these kids.

Thank you so much everyone we are so blessed to have these cards that were sent! We meet on July 11that 6pm at FCW in Bluffton, Indiana, about 45 minutes south of Fort Wayne. If anyone is close and would like to join us we would love to have you! I am sorry it's taken me longer than I planned, I had to do my annual garage sale, had a minor fender bender and have been preparing for my father's wake life celebration party this weekend with my family. But I have everything together and will post the pictures next week and send out some thank yous! I know the time, effort and love that went into each and every card and am so grateful! We also would love to be added to the list for ongoing card recipients if at all possible! Thank you again! Pictures coming soon!!
