We all have so many options when it comes to applying color to our projects. I decided I needed to use my watercolor mediums more often than I do and perhaps in a more creative way. So I got out my brushos and grabbed a stencil to see what I could come up with. I sprinkled the powdered watercolor medium over my stencil and then instead of spritzing with water I wiped the color in using a baby wipe…it worked and I got a fun background.
Challenge: Use a watercolor medium (brushos, watercolor crayons, watercolor paints) and apply them to your project using a stencil.
Fun idea, Polly. The card in Loll's video looks beautiful. I might have a go with gelatos. I presume they count, and they're definitely my most under-used water-soluble medium.
Fun idea! I saw Anita’s card , then the challenge! I want to play, Polly! I hope to come back with something whimsy! I have so many ignored water color products. Got to go play.
Still presuming Gelatos count as when I looked them up they're defined as water-soluble. I had blue and green fingers all day yesterday from a Brusho session on Wednesday evening . But I'll definitely try them with stencils soon.
I just watched the Brusho Watercolor and Stencils video adn laughed out loud at her experiment. She crumpled up one on Whisper White and said, "itls going to paper craft heaven"!!! Cracked me up! I love her accent!
Thanks for the fun challenge. I have not thought about using my stencils like this. I can't wait to give it a try!
I had to finish some other projects and then make room to try this. It took a couple of tries, but I have two panels and they are drying. Now to figure out how to use them!
Oh, and I got very inky. I also used baby wipe to clean up mess, then got the idea to do the baby wipe technique, so now I have two more baby wipe backgrounds, too.
Wanted to play around with this technique some more so made one using the regular stencil and one using the pieces that came out of the stencil as a mask (but still with the Brushos):
