Anyone is welcome to play in the weekly Teapot Challenge - the more, the merrier! You automatically become a “TEApotter” the first time you play. Where will you find inspiration? Will it be from the teapot? The destination location? Something of the recipient? Or could it be from the challenge itself? Remember, your participation in Destination Station is 100% voluntary and not a requirement. Just have fun!
CHALLENGE: I recently decided to clean out a large collection of paper craft magazines. So I went through all of them and cut out any cards and articles I was interested in and threw the rest of the magazine away. I got so many ideas from this experience, including the idea for this week’s challenge. I challenge you to use something you have not used in a long time. For cardmakers who have been in the game for a long time (like me) it could be fibers, eyelets, brads,shaped paper clips, or Magic Mesh. Or any cardmaker could use a sketch you used to love, or an old stamp set, or color combo. Or browse the tutorials for an old technique. Think Old School.
I think this challenge goes well with this week’s Destination because we are sending cards to Kim who makes sock monkeys. Now, sock monkeys have been around a longtime, but became popular when the company who make Red Heel socks started including sock monkey instructions with every pair in the 1950’s. Extra cookies if you have sock monkey stamps. DESTINATION STATION Kim a.k.a. crazykim (a former Teapotter) hasn't uploaded a card in a couple of years as she dedicates all her spare time making the most adorable sock monkeys. For every sock monkey she sells, she donates a monkey for the Children in New Zealand who are spending time in the Oncology wards. They are distributed through Gabby's Starlit Hope foundation; each child gets one of Kim's donated sock monkeys along with a bravery certificate. Kim has a huge kind heart and is one of those people who puts everyone else first. A teapartywould be very fitting (and a surprise) for her.

Pat how did you know I needed to use my old supplies? I raided my closet and came up with 3 or 4 things I haven't used in ...forever! Here's my card for Kim:
What a wonderful recipient! For Christmas, I received a pair of wooly socks with sock monkeys on them. I forget the company but they are the best socks. All the ladies in the family received them.

I was just sifting through some of my old paper craft magazines today - have all I bought in a metal stand (since 1993) - maybe I'll do the same: cut out the ones that truly inspire me. I still use my brads since my brother bought me a new crop-a-dile kit - maybe I'll find a card from the magazines and embellish it somehow...neat ideas!

If anyone is interested, this is what I used yesterday. Old school indeed. The sponge is very dense and the ink is very wet. Not too messy as I only put ink on the edge.

WOW WOW WOW What an amazing surprise today in my mailbox a card all the way from France. Me for this weeks TPT -- this brought tears -- thank you all so much for taking the time to make cards for me and to also spend money to post them. My mailbox is going to have so much happy in it.
