SU spring occasion. Catty
I got a spring occasion in the mail and I just went through it. I found lots I liked in the fall occasion even tho I didnt get anything because I have so much I"m really not buying much .
I was surprised this new catty is so plain! Just seemed really basic. Pretty things but nothing stood out to me except the cat and dog sets. I will probably get the cat stamp set as I have the cat punch.
Has Anyone else seen it and what are your thoughts? I'm 90% SU and I still love it!

The one set that stood out for me is the doily dies. I loved the doilies offered 2 yeas ago and will be so pleased to make my own in whatever colours I need! I will likely get the bundle it’s the stamps too although I don’t know if I would use them as much.

Lots and lots of flowers again. I love flower stamps but I think SU ovrdoes it, year after year.

I was underwhelmed also, but sometimes with SU, I end up liking the products more after my demo has a class using the products. I did like the cactus set.

I like several stamp sets and DSP packs in the new catalog, but so far have not found any die sets I can't resist, which is not a bad thing. That being said I do expect that seeing some of them in action in videos may change my mind. There are a lot of flowers, but I like that there are a couple sets that seem fresh and not the same old-same old.

Hi. I haven't yet seen the SAB or Occasions catalog. Are any of the stamp sets available in wood mount?

Looked through my catalog real quick and did not see any wood mount stamp sets. I believe SU! is no longer issuing sets in wood mount, although I believe background stamps may still be available in wood mount, at least in the US. They are also rolling out their new red rubber cling stamps. They won't be called clear mount any longer and the new image label is supposed to cling very well to an acrylic block. I'm not a demo and have not played with any of these new cling style stamps yet.

SU is moving away from wood mount; there are none in the new SAB or Occasions catalogues. Instead the 'clear mount' rubber has been replaced by 'cling', which means that they now have labels which actually cling to the block.
They now make very few sales of wood-mounted stamps, hence the change. Many people prefer 'naked' stamps because they're cheaper, take up less space and work in stamp presses.
If there are sets in the main catalogue in wood mount which you particularly like, get them while you still can.

Many years ago when I was first started stamping, I was a SU demonstrator. However it was short lived since I was the one buying products to keep myself active, and I started following other brands.
I continue to take a peek at Sale-a-bration offerings, but I haven't been too impressed with the products being offered or their price points.

I have to say that this is one of my overall favorite catalogs.
The pictures do not do any of the products justice and I feel like SU is doing their product and customers a huge disservice by not having better photos. I think the matte paper has something to do with it. The details just don't stand out as much as they do on glossy paper.
My favorites in the SAB brochure are Botanical Butterfly DSP (it's SO much prettier in person!), the Organdy Ribbon, also way prettier in person
The foil sheets. The grapefruit Grove is hard to explain but it's amazing!
I like that so many of the SAB products coordinate so well with many of the Occasions products and Annual Catalog products. They are now making the dies (and some of the punches) so that images from dsp can be easily cut in addition to the stamped images.
I'm not usually so keen on the Occasions (Christmas is my thing) but I'm really in love with this one.

Yes and butterflies 🦋!!! I love ❤️ both and have many of each. They must be big sellers still, don't you think or they wouldn't keep offering them.

I haven't seen the SAB yet but I need too! It sounds like there might be some great items!

I just checked out the occasions again online. I think I was reacting more to the stamp sets. There are beautiful embellishments and ribbon 🎀. I didn't see any dsp I needed. The metallic black and silver ribbon and the coastal cabana granny apple green is gorgeous.

I am disappointed about the lack of a wood mount option. I liked the By the Bay and Home to Roost sets. Also liked the ribbon and shimmery paper. I will need to either buy old SU sets or find a manufacturer that is old school (like me) and offers options like wood mount.

There were a few cute sets, but they were all cling, and I try to buy only photopolymer these days. I'm not sure why they always make the sets I like in cling and the sets that I don't like as much in photopolymer.
But I definitely think they put out a lot to please their usual customer.
And I agree that they're getting rid of wood-mounted stamps. Except for the background stamps, I didn't see any wood-mounted sets.

Ha. I'm the opposite side of the coin, I far prefer cling and too often the sets I really like are photopolymer. I thought the SAB catalogue looks great this year.

I was very underwhelmed. But, I am at the point where I have so many stamps that it has to be pretty fabulous for me to order.I certainly don't need any more Christmas stamps, although I would like more Christmas sentiments (noel, peace, etc). I did like the cat/dog stamp sets in the catalog that came yesterday, although I don't exactly need any more of those either...

Does anyone know if the cat hand punch sold in late 2017 will work with this Nine Lives cat set? It looks about the same shape.

I'm a hobby demo (well, I do have a few online customers!) and I can say I'm pretty impressed with the new cling stamps. They really do stay on the blocks now. The Frosted Flower embellishments are really cute and I find I'm adding them to several cards I've made. The cactus stamp set is pretty popular and the DSP is my downfall. I love all the designs..always have..so for me, they are always at the top of my list.

I was very disappointed by the Occasions Catalog. Very boring, except for the Geared Up Garage stamp set and matching thinlits. I have three married sons and two grandsons so I'm always looking for masculine stamp sets.
SAB was disappointing also. They were both so much better last year. I loved the Holiday Catalog that just ended. I wanted everything in it!
I don't like that SU has decided to discontinue the wood-mount stamp sets. I don't think I will be buying as many sets as I used to. I've been buying SU stamp sets for almost 20 years and have acquired over 1,900 SU sets, so I really don't need to keep adding to them. I have arthritis in my hands and prefer the feel of the wood. It seems a lot easier to me to stamp with the wood than the plastic SU blocks. Also, I hate having to re-mount the cling & clear stamps each time I want to stamp!

I am also having a hard time loving the catalog. I was an SU! Demo for a few years about five years ago. The product line seems to be charged. No soccer kids for my nephew's or trucks for my son. Some sort of garage line. Most of the color I have is retired and the DSP is blah. I really only want to get adhesive.

I'm a demo and I love this Occasions more than any other in recent years. I really like about half of the SAB items.
An observation I have made though is that the designs and colors on the dsp are not done any justice ever since SU went to matte paper for printing. That and they simply make the sample pictures too small. The colors of all the dsp are much brighter/richer than the photos depict. Another thing that I like is that SU is making punches and dies for some of the suites that you can use to cut images from the dsp which to me translates to more bang for my buck.
But as is the usual, some catalogs are more appealing to some than others are and thats perfectly okay

I agree about the DSP being stunning in person versus the catalog. That is why I am so appreciative of demos who do videos/FB Lives in which they show the DSP. I love SU!'s DSP and find myself using it on most of my projects.

I received the Nine Lives set the other day and it is darling! I love that they have been doing more cat and dog sets, as I know many pet people (and am one myself).

Wood mount will discontinue going forward as of the new annual catalogue. The occasion catty does not offer any sets in wood mount; just cling and photopolymer.

That was my absolute 'must have' set as soon as I saw the catalogue. I bought the cat punch when it first came out nearly 2 years ago, and had been disappointed that the only matching stamp sets to date were Halloween (which I don't celebrate). Really happy that they now have a good non-seasonal cat set.
