Big Shot vs. Sidekick?

Could someone tell me the differences between the two? I have the Big Shot but a friend is looking for something similar but cheaper. I don't know anything about the Sidekick but it looks like it would do the same as the Big Shot, no? Any pros/cons to the Sidekick?

Not exactly the same. Maximum width is 2.5 inches. They do the wafer thin dies and the thin dies Sizzix makes that have plastic and foam (Sizzlets, I think). They do narrow embossing folders. They don't do the thicker original dies. So if your embossing folder or dies are wider than 2.5 inches, no go.



If it were me I would wait, save up, and get a Big Shot. Too many limitations as to the size you can work on with the Sidekick.

I have a Big Shot and a Sidekick. I really like the Sidekick for the fiddly little dies that I can cut right at my working area and not lose the pieces somewhere between my Big Shot and my card. As Diane mentioned, it is quite limited in width and you can only use dies that are about 2.5" wide. If I had to choose only one it would be my Big Shot without hesitation.

Is it possible she is seeing the Big Shot and the Big Kick? They are the same size. I've had a Big Kick for many years and it's great. I don't know if Sizzix still makes it. Michael's long ago with a 50% coupon.
