Today's tutorial: Shaving Cream Sparkle
Author: Kim Jolley (kimjolley)
Gallery: Technique Spotlight >> Holiday Blitz Gallery >> Shaving Cream Sparkle
Keyword: 2018BLITZ5
Date: Nov. 10, 2018

One idea that puts a blitz in my holidays is to have card ideas that are fun and easy to execute in multiples. Today I share a fun opportunity with a twist on a Splitcoast favorite that makes it a snap for mass production.

Kim Jolley originally brought us the Shaving Cream Sparkle technique. I'm usually one to refrain from messy, and I *loved* this. One plate and two re-inkers, and I was able to quickly and easily make a dozen background panels.

Kim's results were gorgeous with metallic heat embossing over the top of the shaving cream, and I opted for deco foil. Much faster execution that allows you to work on many pieces at one time and loads of shine.
1. Squirt liquid glue onto scrap of paper
2. Use a piece of wadded up plastic wrap to dip into glue and "sponge" across card swirled background. Allow glue to "rest" a minute or two so that it becomes tacky.
3. Press foil over glued areas. Let set for a moment so that glue "grabs" the foil and then peel foil sheet away, revealing sparkle across the glued area.

Are you ready to give it a whirl? I can't wait to see your creations!

Kim, what kind of glue do you recommend for this?

Susan, I used tombow mono multi glue. Works great for this technique.

I've used both Mono Multi and Aleene's Tacky for adding foil highlights like this.

Cool 2018BLITZ5 Gifty Elf

For today's challenge, I created a starry embossed background for my elf carting his gifts- sponging the circle background frames- adding die cut "stars", and a red striped ribbon/star combo. Had some help from my stamping friend Mary Ellen- as she created the design Here's 2018BLITZ5 Gifty Elf and 2018BLITZ5 Gifty Elf-inside

I made 4 backgrounds using this technique..2 doing it Kim's way with ep and 2 doing it your way Lori using the gold flakes. I made 2 cards today and might do more tomorrow. I used Aleene's tacky glue for the gold flakes...
