I believe my last order brought me up to 50 sets. I think my favorite is Set Sail. I've used it for so many different cards and scrapbooking too. Love that set.
I have 35.... 37 I think with the two non-SU alphabets I have.
Right now I'm loving Natural Beauty -- held off on buying for so long, and can't believe I waited sooooo long now! I pull it out for almost everything!
What about yourself???

My DD loves to use Bold Butterfly and Hedgehog Happiness.
I also like my Loads of love set

Oh my! I thought I had a lot! I have 183 SU! sets including wheels and backgrounds! I also have an Excel file which keeps track of them all, when I bought them, price, catalog pages, when they retired, etc! I started "collecting" about 2 1/2 years ago! Favorite has to be Best of Cluck (today!)
Ok, I've never counted before but this thread prompted me! I have:
86 SU sets
14 wheels
205 miscellaneous single stamps
65 House Mouse stamps
I've probably had close to 200 (or more) SU sets in my "stamping career". I tend to get sick of sets and then sell them on Ebay to generate funds for buying others!
I think my favorite set of all time is "Happy Healing". I don't have to opportunity to use it very often (which is probably good!) but I love that little penguin!!
Sorry, that is classified information. But it's nowhere near 415!!!!! :o
Favourite? Cool Cat - although I've never used the perfume bottle thingy, have only used the presents once, and have only used the "meow" bit of the greeting because the rest doesn't mean anything in England!
I probably have 75-80 sets. I keep non-seasonal ones (Easter, Christmas, Halloween) separate from the ones I have out all the time. I would have to say I use Petal Prints the most, other than my backgrounds. Right now I'm using Looks Like Spring a ton, along with Linen. I just received Unfrogetable, so I need to get stampin!
Wow, I feel so much less guilty! I haven't counted in awhile, but I think I have about 120 SU sets, about 20 TAC sets, 20ish wheels and a small collection of single stamps. My favorite set changes frequently. I love Paint Prints and Watercolor Garden - both super versatile. My favorite bg is canvas, and my fave wheel is the hedgie roll one. My favorite word set is curvy verses and my favorite seasonal set is halloween hedgies. TMI?

How can you possibly use or even need so many stamps? Where on earth do you put them all? Do you really need more than one or two sets for every occasion? I was blown away by the high totals... no way can one person possibly need/use all of those sets. Are you investing and saving up for retirement or something???? : )
I have about fifty SU sets, not counting wheels or other companies' stuff. I have a rule. My stamps must always fit in my dining room cabinet. When I get one too many sets, one has to go. I religiously pare down my collection and I have only been sorry I sold off a set once... Happy Healing. May have to get that back some day.

This has been fun reading all the favorites and numbers. I don't have a favorite, but I do use Pines alot. Yeah, I don't feel guilty now - UPS just brought me curvy verses last night - my count is now 54!! Have fun stamping everyone! Lou Ann
Hi!
Wow, lots of questions. A lot of people have asked why so many, you don't need so many, where do you put them, etc... in all the time that I've been stamping. Makes me laugh, we all have our vices and stamping is mine.
I received my first set of stamps 35 years ago, my Mom bought me a set of stamps at a garage sale, they are from 1932. 300 individual stamps (images, words, letters & numbers) it's an old fashioned printing/publishing set designed to teach kids to write and illustrate. As I grew up they got put up in the attic and forgotten (she gave them to me 7 years ago, they moved and she found them tucked under the eaves). Mom said I used them a lot, I really don't remember. So that's who started me.
Then 16 years ago my girlfriend bought me a blue ink pad, "You're Invited" with details and a Thank You stamp. I had my first child then, and the second on the way, I was a stay at home Mom and she figured I could use these for the kids as they grew up.
Then I was invited to a SU party by a friend from church, bought a little, then over time I hosted a few large parties (earned a lot of free stamps) and went to other friends parties. After a while I became a demo and the rest is downhill from there. Back when I started for SU the sets were foam mounted and that enabled me to buy more for less. There weren't as many accessories so that helped me spend money on stamps instead of accessories. We used to have monthly stamping get togethers, lots of workshops and stamp days. A couple friends experimented with opening a stamp store and let a lot of us buy at their wholesale price to meet the minimum. Stamp conventions, stamp stores, going out of business sales, grab bags and on and on for sources of stamps. I always looked for discounts, sales and deals.
Over time much has changed, I work, I'm not a demo anymore. The stamps days are gone, I'm pretty much the only stamper still stamping. Almost 1,000 of the 6,432 individual stamp images that I have came from stamping friends who have stopped stamping and they have given me their stamps. A lot of my stamps I earned through commissions, bonuses or gifts. Although I'm not buying stamps anymore either. I'm always open to buying, but the designs are either similar to what I have or I don't care for the designs. I have invested in a fair amount of Sizzix dies this past year, but I'm done with buying those too.
I have never sold off any of my retired stamps. I just don't buy anything similar to what I have. Almost all my stamps are now unmounted, including the Stampin' Up! ones. The wheels are still intact. So are the antique set of stamps, they stay in their case and just get used from time to time. A few dies are too large for the acrylic blocks I have, but for arguement's sake all my stamps are unmounted. I keep them in binders, labeled in a cabinet with doors. One cabinet, 42 -1" binders do the trick. I keep track of all the images by stamping them on copy weight paper, sorted by categories similar to SU's catalog (floral, words, backgrounds, etc...) so it makes sort of a giant catalog of what I have. I can easily see roses or leaves and mix and match as needed. This large index catalog has kept me from duplicating images. And yes, I like have more than one variation of a holiday. Makes stamping less boring and that way I don't use the same pumpkin every year.
Right now I'm taking a break from stamping images for a swap I'm involved in. I don't stamp as often as I'd like, but like tools in the kitchen, it's nice to have what I have when I need it. I share as much as I can, I make cards for people as often as I can.
The way I look at things, it's not about how much I have, how much someone else thinks I should have, or even that they think I have too much and should give THEM some of my stuff, since I can't possibly use it all. (I've heard a lot of criticism before, those who criticize aren't invited back over). That's none of their business, it's between DH and I what I have, he's well aware of what I have, how much I have spent and how I use what I have. Not to mention he's helped me move all my stuff several times and drives me to the necessary stores to purchase needed items. It was also DH who gave me a huge Christmas gift of most of the Sizzix dies I own.
When our boys were younger they used to stamp with me. Which is why I have dinosaur and power ranger stamps. LOL!!! Now DD who is almost 9 stamps with me. Sometimes she'll make an announcement, usually to DH, that she "Just has to craft!" Makes him laugh and off we go to make something. She'll be inheriting all my stuff so now when I make purchases she likes to make sure it's something she likes too.
So yes, I have a lot, no I don't have too many, I have just enough. I store it all in a corner of my family room and I stamp at the kitchen table. I do use my stamps for good, cards, gifts, and lots and lots of things are made for others. Hope that helps. Have a wonderful day.

Good for you! I think this hobby is such a personal decision that we all have to make the personal decision on how much we can spend & how much space we can use. I know that I stamp & scrap as a personal creative outlet and as a way for me to express my love for my family & friends. I hope your DD enjoys the stamps and that they hold lots of fond memories for her.
Wow, Ladybugstamper2.....that is quite a history. I think you need to print it out and scrapbook it!
I've decided that this is just something that I enjoy doing. I have no room for it. All of my stuff is in my dining room. I rarely have people over, but when I do, all the stuff has to go in the bedrooms, or out on the deck. My son is in his first year of college, so I dream of the day when he is out on his own, and I can have my craft room! (Not that I don't love him.....) After coming to one of my workshops, my sister has recently become addicted to stamping. I have more stuff, but she has more time. We live about 40 minutes away from each other, so now we find more opportunities to get together. It's been fun! There are worse things we could be spending our money on, but I have cut back with college to pay for.
Anyway, there was another thread like this a few months ago. I think I have between 100 and 200 sets. I really need to update my list. Quite a few were free, between SAB and hostess sets, plus free merchandise.
Well, I counted. I have 156 sets including the 9 backgrounds that are on their way. I only have 9 wheels. I also have quite a few stamps that I have bought from assorted places - 3 backgrounds from cornish heritage, words from 3 or 4 places, etc.

Last time I counted, I had 84 sets but I know I've gotten more since then. I'll say around 90-95, plus alot of individual ones from a cute stamp store near me.
