Default Cigar boxes 2018-theyve changed!

I did a search on Cigar boxes and the last thread was 2011. I was asked to decorate some cigar boxes with a paint technique I do. Ive started to take off the stickers and boy oh boy are there a lot of stubborn stickers on these things! Back in 2001, I bought a few at a stamp convention and made a purse out of it- mostly decoupage. I dont recall them 1-having so many stickers all over them, 2-coming in so many different shapes and sizes and 3-being such great quality-wood, lacquered- like wood, plastic, etc.
I was wondering if any of you still work with them and have any tips for use. I did see Pinterest has some upcycled ones- but they all seemed old.
Im sure Ill have fun playing around with them.

I haven't worked with them in awhile myself. I still have several unused in my craft closet Try sanding the stickers that don't want to pull off and then once smooth paint it with a coat or two of gesso before doing your paint technique.

Whatever you do - if you decide to sell the finished product, do not include the word Cuban anywhere in the description. You can get in a lot of trouble since Cuban products are illegal. This probably sounds weird, but I'm mentioning it because my brother recently got into legal hot water because he had an old box made into a guitar. The guy who fashioned the guitar wrote that it was that style box on the paperwork and - oh my goodness - you would not believe the problems that caused!

Undo is a crafting necessity. A must have! Everyone needs it. LOL, especially for making cigar boxes.

Tho my box is up at my summer home, I use a short cigar box for storing my distress ink pads. You can stack them 2 high and I think I have 2 rows of 3 across so one box can hold 12 pads. I have another for all the mini miscellaneous ink pads. Makes traveling with ink easier. My boxes are undecorated at the moment.
