MMTPT529 ~ September 11, 2018 ~ Memories are Made of...
WELCOME TO TEAPOT TUESDAY CHALLENGE MMTPT529
Memories are Made of...
Anyone is welcome to play -the more, the merrier! You automatically become a “TEApotter” the first time you play in our challenge. Where will you find inspiration? Will it be from the teapot? The destination location? Something about the recipient? Or could it be from the challenge itself? Remember, your participation in Destination Station is 100% voluntary and not a requirement. Just have fun!
CHALLENGE: Today is September 11th, so take time to remember. We think of those who died so tragically in 2001, their families who still miss them, and all those who served in the rescue.
This week we are sending our cards to the mother of Karen (chinook), who has just moved into a nursing home. A move like that means leaving a lot of our own possessions behind and often just keeping the most treasured ones, along with all the memories of the past that are bound up in them. It might be some photographs, old letters, souvenirs from a trip, a special gift. For my dad, it was his notebooks and diary: he was an inveterate diary-writer all his life; but especially as he got older and the dementia affected him more, he'd write everything down in his little notebooks to try to help him remember.
On a practical level, repetition can help reinforce memory - think of the hours and hours and hours musicians put in practicing to help develop finger memory. So my challenge today is to repeat something in your card...it could be as simple as using the same stamp twice (shadow stamping would be an option here, or stamping off for generational stamping). Interpret it however you like...It would be lovely to include tea-related images, flowers and hummingbirds as these are all things Mary loves. You could stamp a teapot and two cups, or create a background by repeat-stamping a sentiment or image in a soft colour; these are other ways you could incorporate repetition.
EPEC (Extra Points for Extra Cookies:If you're using flowers on your card, include some poppies for remembrance.
DESTINATION STATION: We’re heading North this week…all the way to Alberta Canada to bring some warm fuzzies to Mary, mom to fellow SCSr Chinook (Karen). Mary has recently entered a nursing home and it’s been quite an adjustment for everyone involved. Let’s help “decorate” Mary’s room with some warm, cheerful paper hugs. Mary loves her family and is fond of tea images (right up our alley), hummingbirds and flowers.
SEND YOUR CARDS TO:

Do you know someone that could use some well wishes, encouragement or all around warm fuzzies? Consider nominating them as a guest of honor (a.k.a. destination station) for an upcoming tea party. Post your request HERE or send a PM to jacqueline.
And I want to share a couple of pictures taken last night. My sister and I went to an amazing garden near one of the lakes. She had discovered that the hummingbirds like this garden and hang out there in Spring and Fall right around migration time. We went at dusk and saw dozens of hummingbirds...it was so cool. Many were as close to us as 10-12". It was truly a magical experience..I hope the pictures can convey that.

I was at a meeting at the nursing home today, which is why I'm late posting here. I told my Mom about the Tea Party and she just couldn't believe that complete strangers would MAKE her cards then go to the effort to send them to her to brighten her day. It still brings tears to my eyes - THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I'll get to my card tomorrow.
A day late to the party but here I am. I felt the open line focal image worked well with a very busy background symbolically adding more movement to the fluttering hummingbird.
I never seem to get to work on my cards the same day as the challenge. But I got my card done for Mary (my Mom). Inside I penned "Fluttering By to let you know you are loved".
Same here Sis Karen , I’m always fashionably late. I maybe sending something from my loads of stash if I don’t get my mojo kick started soon. But I’m definitely sending love to your mom Sis Karen.
OH my goodness....I usually look at the cookies and tea-pot...missed it this time...HOW could one eat these....so beautifully painted and colored....it would be so hard to take that bite....great find...:0)

Everyone! My Mom is still receiving the most beautiful cards and I wanted to pop in and thank you so much! Each one is so lovely and Mom shows her friends when they come to visit, and she has made a friend in the nursing home who commented on the cards to me today. She was in awe that people MADE them! One bulletin board is full and there are cards on the other one as well, but I didn't think to take a photo of that board. Yet! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Oh it won't let me add the photo I took of her today with the cards - but if I can figure it out I will.
Playing my personal "challenge catch-up!" Here is my take on repetition helps your memory card: Halloween's Peeking Out All Over! I repeated my peek-a-boo inchie frames four times.
