Challenge Title: Brand New Occasion Hostess: MISTI Monday Keyword: MSP12 Date: August 6, 2018
Hi everyone! I hope you're having a tremendous start to your August. This month's challenge will focus on types of cards you have NEVER made. I want you to think of an occasion you've never had a chance to create a card for, that makes you step out of your comfort zone. I've NEVER made cards for small children. Ever. My kids are grown and I've always just made cards for adults or older teens.
I was given this stamp set by Alexandra Renke and I just love it so much! Unfortunately, I don't have any children to make cards for so I was bummed, thinking I'd never use it. Well, lo and behold I used it for this month's challenge. I've also stepped out of my normal style by choosing dark paper for my card front. I NEVER use anything but white or very light cream or gray. I recently saw a beautiful floral card on dark blue paper and told myself to try it.
So here's the card and I challenge you to make a card you normally don't. Try to bring something new to the card that you don't typically do. Good luck!
I used Night of Navy card stock from Stampin' Up! as my canvas. Boy that felt weird.
I used Wow! Metallic Silver Sparkle embossing powder for all the stars in Alexandra's Unicorn stamp set and Alabaster embossing powder from Brutus Monroe for the sentiment, which is from Papertrey Ink's Inside & Out: Birthday stamp set.
Here's a close up of the unicorn. I used my MISTI to first stamp the outline in Gina K's In the Navy ink and then stamp over it in VersaMark ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder from Stampendous. The MISTI allows me to stamp with the VersaMark with precision over the dark blue ink. I also colored in the unicorn with some Wink of Stella to add lots of sparkle and embossed the horn with the same Silver embossing powder I used on the stars.
I also covered the edges of my scalloped edged rectangle die cut with Wink of Stella to add even more sparkle. It turned out so cute!
It's a shame I've never had to make children's cards before. This was really fun for my first time! Now I just need a little girl to send this to!
I hope you have fun with this month's challenge and I thank you all for participating!

With DTGD I will have several cards to use for this challenge! Yay!
Thanks again for hosting a monthly challenge and Supporting our stamping community!
Here is my card...not much stamping on this one, except the sentiment, which is gold embossed, but I love my MISTI to make sure it is stamped evenly and not at an angle. I always "stamp" it twice to make sure the ink or Versamark is well distributed even on the little letters.

Used my Misti for the large flowers from HC! So much easier to stamp and to stamp multiples of the same image!
New to me on the card are the leaf dies and the wonderful metallic watercolors I just got today!! Fun colors and I am looking forward to trying them on other projects.
Sliding in before the deadline...forgot to subscribe to this thread. My husband photographed the card last night and I forgot to upload it!
I have never used the MISTI Corners before, excited to be able to have sentiment at an angle! This stamp set is for Autism Awareness, which I have never made a card for this before.
I struggle with heat embossing but am enjoying learning better the process having the MISTI as a tool to help. Also used the MISTI for the small heart placements and for the larger heart and used a post-it note to mask off the area!
Hi all! The winner for our August Challenge is Chatterbox-1! Congratulations and I've sent you a private message! Thank you to all who participated this month and I hope you come back for September's challenge!
Happy Labor Day to my USA peeps and I hope EVERYONE is having a great weekend.
