Shoebox Project Information:
This is the only mandatory part of the day which will take place first on ourschedule
**Please have your shoebox completely prepared and ready to go when you arrive for the gathering. Unfortunately, I have had complaints in past years of people not having their shoebox projects ready for their tablemates to work on, making this reminder necessary. If you don't arrive with a completed and ready to go shoebox project, your tablemates are not obligated to allow you to do the project they have prepared. Being prepared means having all of the elements of your pre planned project prepared and ready for your tablemates. Tossing a bunch of random supplies on the table and instructing people to "create whatever they would like" is not acceptable. Please be considerate of others and extend the courtesy of having your shoebox project ready when you arrive. Thanks!!**
*Your shoebox project can be anything stamped*
• If you are making a card, we will make FULL cards using at least oneembellishment (ribbon, brads, buttons, etc).
• Quality CS is a MUST!
• Please have all card pieces pre-cut.
• Please bring stamps or other items for your project
• Please include instructions (aka: recipes), tips and any other important information.
• Please bring 6 extra completed shoe box projects. You will use one as yoursample at your table, two for hostess gifts and three for door prizes. Several people commented last year that theywould like to bring a couple more prepared shoebox projects for door prizes, sothis year we will have three complete sets of shoebox projects to use as doorprizes.
• You may make other projects keeping in mind it should not take more than10-12 minutes to complete.
• We estimate having approx. 8 people at each table and will give final numberswhen we have a final count.
Swaps
Please follow the requirements below and if you are joining the SU only, pleaseuse only current SU products. We consider current SU product as product in anySU catalog that is current up until the date of the gathering. Please note that if you sign up for a swapand do not fulfill your commitment, you will not receive any swaps from theothers in your group.
We will have 5 swaps:
1. Card front – SU only
2. Card Front – NVR
3. 6x6 recipe swap
4. ATC – Artist Trading Card
5. 3D Item swap
Swaps are not mandatory – you may participate in as few or as many as you wouldlike. Please remember to showcase your best work using quality products. Youmust use at least two layers and one embellishment on each swap – thanks!!
Handmade Gift Exchange
There has been discussion in the past year or two regarding the handmade gift exchange. Several have asked if we could change to ANY handmade gift vs. a paper crafted gift. We are going to give trial run this year for ANY handmade gift and see how it goes. To clarify, you may still bring a paper crafted handmade gift to exchange if you choose, however any handmade gift is acceptable. We can discuss at the gathering what we would prefer in the future. For those wishing to participate, please bring a handmade gift with a value of approx. $5.00. Please be sure your gift is wrapped with your name so the person who receives it knows who to thank!!
Donations: We will be collecting school supply donations for the ROC Achieve middle school this year. This school is located in the most impoverished zip code in all of <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:pRochester</st1</st1:city>. 100% of the students in this middle school receive free lunch and uniforms and are unable to even provide their own basic school supplies. My contact at this school is the 7th grade history teacher and he said that due to the incredible needs at this school, there is NO budget for school supplies and without supplemental donations they are unable to provide basic school supplies for their students. He is beyond grateful that we have chosen his school to donate to. Since these are middle school children, the list of needed supplies is quite different (and smaller) then for the elementary schools that we have donated to in the past. Deodorant is also on the list as most families cannot afford it which can result in a smelly situation. I researched the deodorant situation and discovered that travel size deodorant is really, really expensive. A friend of mine suggested that I check out the Dollar Tree as they have brand name deodorants that are larger and cheaper then the travel size ones at Wal Mart and Wegmans and she was right, so that’s where I purchased some. Just passing along what I found out!
Needed supplies are:
*Folders
*Pencil cases for binders
*Mini/kid sized staplers
*Travel or full size deodorant for both boys and girls
*Loose leaf paper, loose leaf paper!! (I quoted that!)
*Pencils, pencils, pencils& more pencils!! (I quoted that, too!!)
Hope to see you all at the gathering!
Lauri

We will do a Secret Sister again this year if there is interest. There will be information forms at the registration table for those wishing to participate.
We decided as a group last year that the minimum secret sister requirements are as follows:
-a card on her birthday -one card for each season (winter, spring, summer, fall) -a papercrafted gift with a $5 value at the reveal at next years gathering
We want to keep it simple, so please feel free to do as much as you want, but above would be the minimum.
If you have a Secret Sister from last years gathering, please don't forget to bring her a paper crafted gift as stated above for our reveal!! __________________

If any of you would like to bring garage sale items, please feel free, but at your own risk. If there is enough of an interest and somebody would like to coordinate a schedule to monitor the items for sale, please let me know.

Ladies note for your shoebox that we now bring SIX (6) pre-made cards/projects instead of FOUR (4) as they will be used for door prizes. ALSO, bring FOUR cards from your stash to donate to the church card ministry. SEE ABOVE
Hi Becky... long time no see. Looking forward to seeing you again. Good question about the number of shoebox kits...5 x 8 seems like sooo many cards sooo little time...LOL
It is with a sad and extremely mad heart that I must say I will not be able to make it to the event. Even though I was approved months ago for the day off, my boss scheduled me and absolutely no one is willing to switch shifts with me at work. I have all of my swaps finished and if you don't mind Lauri, Id like to mail my stuff to you so that I can still participate even though I can't be there. I also have tons of school supplies for the donations.
I will also have to drop the SU only swap... I didn't receive my new supplies in time since I will have to mail stuff tomorrow and my order is due tomorrow.
Thanks,
Heather Marshall

Heather, I am so sorry to read this. You wouldn't happen to be a nurse, would you? I used to run into issues like that when I was working. I had to get our chief nursing manager involved in order to attend my daughter's wedding.
