Challenge Title: Going To The Zoo Hostess: Sharon AKA(smadson) Keyword: JUL18VSNO Date: 9:00 PM ET
Good Evening & Welcome to this VSN Staycation Challenge! Staycations at our house when the kids were small was going to the zoo, and taking a picnic lunch and making a day of it! We even continued it with the grands! I have so many lovely memories of these times. There was the time going through the tropical bird area when the bird landed on my head! Scared the you know what out of me! LOL And the time that our grandson of about two, sitting in his stroller, pointed to a spot on the map he was holding and said "we haven't seen this one yet!" What? How can he know that? LOL I have lots of photos over the years of our kids in adorable poses with the animals. So, who doesn't have a favorite animal at the zoo?
My challenge is make a card with an animal on it, and if you want, share a zoo story with us! Our keyword when uploading is JUL18VSNO.

Here's my Panda story. For years I didn't like the zoo. I think I was scarred as a little girl! I just remember it being extremely hot and the animals were throwing up, or picking fleas off one another and eating them or they were you know, doing it! LOL As an adult I have had 2 super fun zoo experiences though. My husband took me to the Minneapolis Zoo in the winter! Seeing animals that are supposed to live in the cold country surrounded by snow was amazing! Total opposite of my little girl steamy hot summer day Zoo trip. The other zoo experience was a few years ago taking our teens to Zoo Atlanta during Spring Break. it was such a beautiful day and a beautiful memory! MY card has a Panda on it celebrating Ya Lun and Xi Lun the only twin pandas that can be seen in a US zoo! Panda Note Set
I had some of this old black and white patterned paper. The circles are a nice contrast with zebra stripes. I combined this challenge with a previous free for all challenge.
so, my mama' loves big cats, tigers lions etc... and when she heard hubs had no memory of ever seeing a Zoo once when were were first married that was one of the things we did have to do while we were visiting them was go to the MN Zoo.
( I cannot remember what we seen, I think that was the start of hubs wanting bigger better zoom len's for his camera gear collection though lol)
so, I have always collected Tiger stamps to make cards for my mom and this one still makes me smile ( its a really old stamp)
I just made a card for this challenge... took me 34 minutes and I did the inside of my card, too. Now I'm editing a photo and will get it in the gallery Sharon, this has been fun.
I hope it's okay - there is an animal on my card, but it's not really a zoo animal.
Yes, you need the keyword, and I think it is there. It just takes a few moments.
And, Jeanette there are no challenge police and besides I bet there are dogs at some zoo, somewhere! . I am so glad you played my challenge tonight. Hope you are enjoying your first VSN!
Almost made a card with a flamingo since we have those at our zoo, but then I remembered how my boys always wanted to see bears - which we don’t have. They finally got their wish on vacation when we saw a Polar Bear. I’m almost positive it was in Chicago...?
I was too tired to do this tonight but was determined to get at least one of the challenges done at the time VSN was happening. I am glad yours was the one I chose to do.
When I was little we lived in Falls Church, VA, just outside of Washington, DC. We visited the National Zoo regularly. Smoky the Bear lived there. My card, but not a bear: JUL18VSNO What's Up? by casep - at Splitcoaststampers

The last challenge has started. What a weekend! Remember you have all next week to do all the challenges. And there is a prize thread for ones who do them all and prize drawings for even if you just did one. I am going to bed, but will check back here to see what animals we are adding to our zoo! Just post your link and I will go check out your creation!
Thanks for the challenge, Sharon! It brought back many happy memories of about 10 years ago when I had the privilege to visit Kenya and go on more than one safari, to see zoo animals in the wild - it was amazing!
I bought these dies from PBStamps.com recently when John had a sale. I'd finally got round to putting them away unused, but thought I'd pull them back out and make a quick card for your challenge, Sharon. I wanted to use the elephant too, but I'd have need a ginormous card and I've already made an outsize one for another challenge .
