Challenge Title: Unique ink Blending
Hostess: MISTI Monday
Keyword: MSP11
Date: July 2, 2018
Happy July everyone! I'm not sure where you are from, but in my area of the world it is scorching! The HEAT and the Humidity are awful! But, I'd rather be hot than cold! Not complaining (that much).
Thanks for joining us again this month. Tonight I'm inspired by the heat and decided to use hot hues for my color palette. I also wanted to mimic a flame in my card as well. What better way to achieve this look than by color blending from light to dark in those shades.
Typically I use sponges when blending my inks because it's quick and easy. I've also seen card artists use a latex glove, paintbrush or even direct to paper. Tonight I wanted to do the marbling technique with a latex glove, but I didn't have one in my craft room! So I walked around...looking for something....something to use instead of a glove. And I found it in the kitchen! Glad Press n'Seal! It worked great! It let me have way more control, using my finger, than trying to get my borders right with a sponge.
Here's some pictures of my progress.
First I cut my Press n'Seal into squares to wrap around my finger. I used a new square for each color.
I inked up my finger directly from the ink pad starting with the lightest color.
I continued with the other colors all the way up my stamp.
Look how easy it is to ink up your finger! This was fun!
Here's my finished card! I die cut my main image out with a stitched rectangle die and then adhered it with foam tape to my background. I just sponged my background paper around the edges using the same color scheme from bottom to top. I really love how this turned out. I believe I accomplished my "heat" look with this technique. The patented MISTI stamping tool allowed me perfect placement every time, guaranteeing a beautiful result.
Your challenge is to make a "Heat" inspired card using warm colors and any type of ink blending you wish. I really think you should try the Press n'Seal if you happen to have it in your kitchen (or craft room).
The stamp set is a clear photopolymer stamp set by my friends at Visible Image. It is called
Learn To Fly Again. (Click on name to see on the Visible Image Website.
Colors used were Altenew's Crisp Dye Inks (lightest to darkest): Warm Sunshine, Orange Cream, Firebrick and Vineyard Berry and Gina K's Black Onyx.
Thank you so much for looking in at the challenge this month and I do hope you play along!
Good Luck and stay COOL!
