Challenge Title: Chalkboard Collage (School's Out soon!)
Hostess: MISTI Monday Keyword: MSP9 Date: May 7, 2018 Hi everyone! Can you believe school will be out soon? The year has flown by. I hope you all are having a wonderful Spring and you are enjoying some time outdoors.
This month's challenge was inspired by the new coffee shop that opened in my neighborhood and some trendy chalkboard collage cards I've recently seen all over blogs and Pinterest.
The card you submit should have multiple images on your "chalkboard" to create a sign looking collage. This was really fun and i hope you have fun coming up with your own!
Making my collage was very simple with my Misti for proper alignment and the ability to stamp all the different images at once with my VersaMark ink. I used Brutus Monroe's Alabaster Embossing Powder (my favorite) and the lines were drawn in with my L ruler from my MISTI Creative Corners using a white pencil from my Chameleon Color Tones colored pencil set. I used Altenew's Coffee Love and Coffee Talk stamp sets.
Here it is!
I'll be sending this card to my coffee loving friend who I haven't seen for quite some time! She texted me the other day to ask if we could meet fo coffee.....how perfect to send this to her!
I can't wait to see your cards! I hope you enjoy this month's challenge and I thank you for joining in! Good Luck!
Much Love,
MISTI Monday

Ok, I've never tried making a card with the chalkboard look...and not sure I totally nailed it, especially for this challenge, but had a little fun anyway so thats the important thing I guess. My card is here.
I have never made a chalkboard card before, this was a challenge...5 tries later I have something that I decided is good enough though not perfect.
Not sure if it is the Versamark that is the problem. I have 2 pads, both are juicy but both are old...the white embossing powder is not old but in real life there are different thicknesses of the powder on the card.
It was a fun challenge, but it really was a challenge to me. I used different images and some did not stamp well (and I wasn't smart enough to put the cardstock against the edge because I wanted to have the flourishes to stamp off the edge...which I realize could be stamped separately after I finished the scripture but that's not how my brain worked!)
Am certain my friend Melanie will not care how it looks, she is not a card maker and to her it will be perfect!
I bought myself a new Versamark pad today with a 50% off coupon at JoAnn's.
It will be interesting to see if it makes a big difference for you. I have one pristine one I save for techniques where the embossing needs to be perfectly clear, and then an old grungy one I use for opaque embossing.

What is opaque embossing?

Opaque embossing: where the EP is black or some other colour as opposed to transparent or clear EP.
For instance, if I am stamping in Versamark and then clear EP embossing (or transparent glitter EP etc) where the base layer will show through (think resist embossing) I will not use my dirty old Versamark pad, I will use my new clean one. If opaque embossing (clear EP over dried black dye ink or coloured opaque EP) I use my old pad as it will not matter if any grungy old ink or dirt transfers to the image as it wont be seen through the opaque EP.

Note to self:
Take old pad out of garbage!
Thanks for explaining.

Hi All! Just got back from a weekend away with my classmates from high school. 30 years ago today we graduated and 11 of us had a weekend getaway together. Had to drive through tons of rain, so my head is throbbing a little....but WOW what cards you guys made this month!
I really hope you enjoyed the challenge. This was the first time I'd made a card like that and I really loved it. I think I'll make additional ones, masculine, to keep on hand.
The winner of the challenge is Tara_Robinson! Your YOU ARE AWESOME card was the winning card and I'm so happy for you! I'd like to thank you all for entering this month! You guys always blow me away with your entries.
I'll be posting June's challenge tomorrow evening. I hope you join in.
Tara, I'm sending you a private message to see what prize you pick from My Sweet Petunia and to get your info to send the embossing powders.
Have a great week everyone!
MISTI Monday

I bought the MISTI corners this weekend when I was in IA...hoping it will help me with issues I have when making cards! Certainly it won't hurt my card making!!!!
