Has anyone heard from Hawaiian??? Guess I need to send her a pm.
I had an email from her yesterday. She's not on the same island as the volcano, but the air pollution from the eruption is affecting her breathing quite badly :-(.

I have...she's fine and just having breathing problems due to the smog, etc. She emailed me last night. She's excited about the VSN.

:( Thanks for the update Sabrina! The pictures on the news look horrific!
Kim...I won't be here....we leave for the UK/Europe at the start of July...doh! I will be in Scotland on those dates...in Stirling and on our way to Oban.
July in Oz is our winter so a lot of Aussies tend to get away to warmer climates. In the West, people either go to Bali or up north to Broome. We usually go to the northern hemisphere.
I will be thinking of you all and will have to catch the next one. Have fun.
Doh...just saw Sabrina had already replied about sis Vicki...LOL. Note to self: Read all posts first LOL

I'm lucky enough to live near where others come to vacation! We rent a space in a camp ground near Sun Valley and we leave our camp trailer there all summer. Most Friday night's after work, we just grab groceries and drive up to our trailer to spend the weekend hiking, biking, fishing, riding the trails and relaxing by the campfire.

That is really lucky Dianne, I cannot even imagine what they would want for a spot all season in one of the parks here. ( it's crazy) and they have had it all over the news that they hiking the fees in the parks yet again
Our summer plans actually include a very nice vacation to Glacier NP with hubby, my mom and mom-in-law. Both of our fathers are deceased. Bruce & I want to have nice trip while our mom are in relatively good health. We're taking the train out to Montana, then renting a car.
It will be our last big vacation for a while. We desperately need to update our kitchen, and the plan is to get that going next year. Then it will be lots of staycation while we pay that off!
We also have some nice local and regional parks we visit throughout the year. But they are all quite flat. Glacier will be amazing!

Yay, another VSN! It comes just as our church finishes our week-long kids' Bible camp, with which our family helps, so it will be a fantastic way to unwind.
We are going to Hilton Head for a week with extended family, we have a wedding a couple hours away another weekend, and I am having a staycation with my husband and 13 yo daughter while the 15 and 17 yo girls are off to the UK with my parents for 2 weeks (a slightly early 16th birthday present to one of them). Otherwise, the summer is pretty lazy here, filled with farmer's market visits, lots of reading, and board game playing.
We do mostly staycations at our house so this theme is very appropriate!!!
We are going to visit Steve's parents the day our daughter gets out of school. We haven't been to MN in years. It will be a very LONG day of travel by plane and auto and once we get there we are only staying a day and a half. yikes! LOL
Other than that I don't think we are doing anything. Our daughter is trying out for a summer play again this year and if she gets it that will totally fill our schedule.
My husband has used most of his time for this year. It's really hard for him to get time off during the summer so we have mostly had.....staycations this year. He usually takes several days and goes on a backpacking trip, we go to the movie, take a day trip to a museum or a hike we have never been on.
Thanks Kim. I lost most of March and all of April, as we were packing, selling home, moving, and unpacking! And just got back from trip to Georgia to see DGS graduate with highest honors from Georgia Tech. I hadn’t crafted in over a month, but broke in my new craft room and made two cards yesterday and today. It was kind of hard to get started again! Everything is in a different place, and I didn’t think I would be able to find stuff, but it is going to work out! Smaller, but cozy.
Nicole, your DDs are going to have a ball! You will too, with DH! I think we are home for the Summer, except I have a scrapbook retreat in June, just an hour from here. We really just need to recooperate from all that moving and packing.
I look forward to VSN. Great theme! If I could think of an idea, I would sign up to be hostess!
Summer VSN? Yes please! That might be the same time as my staycation. Haven't decided when I'm taking off but I am taking some time off. We just can't afford to go anywhere because we spent all our money building a garage. It was worth every penny though!
Our staycations usually involve gardening and outdoor games. We have a large fire pit that my hubby likes to cook a roast over...or a pot of beans. It's usually quite fun!
We moved in February and there are alot of things that we need to purchase since we no longer live in an apartments; lawn mower, weed wacker, lawn tools and etc. My boyfriend loves to drive so we will take day trips over the summer. For
His birthday he wants to watch the sun come up on the east side of the state and watch it go down over Lake Michigan.

To bad you didnt buy our home, which we just sold! We left them all the yard stuff! Trimmers, mower, hoses, pots; basically a full shed of stuff, since we were moving to a permanent rented duplex, where they do all the yard maintenance and house maintenance, too!

Fun day trip he wants to do for his birthday!
I am soooo ready for yard and house maintenance guy who is not my husband!!!! I am so overwhelmed with our house. It's always something. Steve was going to leave after work on a short backpacking trip tomorrow but I spotted a wet floor underneath the washer. I thought that some floor cleaner had spilled. Nope.... Hot water heater is leaking and has been leaking for what looks like a month or so. :(
He has taken a day off tomorrow and plans to replace it but I cannot help him move it with my back situation so I dread tomorrow.

Oh, no! I hope there is no damage!
Well, we had that happen to us twice in the 20+ years we lived in our home, but we didnt even think of trying to do it ourselves. We called our plumber. Both times it happened right before a trip! LOL. The joys of homeowners!
I have had a strange week. Nothing drastic, nothing awful, I have just been unable to focus on anything.
I need a staycation now! Haha!
In addition to preparation for this stamping event I have two big Church events this summer one before my trip to Glacier National Park and one after my trip. But I can't seem to concentrate on anything.
A friend of mine calls herself Squirrel Girl because her mind dashes from one thing to another so quickly. I think that has been me for quite a while this spring!
Hopefully tomorrow I can make some June birthday cards and get my mind focused again. This week's color challenge looks very unique and I might give that a try. How is everyone else doing with card making this spring?
Ugh!!! I haven’t done very well with card making lately. I’m hoping to participate in the 30 Day Coloring challenge that starts June 1. I hope it jump starts my mojo!!
I'm a little late to the party! Just found the thread. Every vacation is staycation for DH and I because we both hate to travel! This year we need to work on our roof. With all this rain, I have found leaks in the kitchen, the bedroom and the craft room! Eeek!
Squirrel Girl! I love that. SO ME!!!! I totally surprised myself and got all but 2 of my deadline cards made last week in prep for a weekend trip. Thank goodness I did because this week has definitely been squirrel girl week.
Our house is torn up because of the water leak. My poor husband is beside himself. There are new places leaking AFTER he put in a brand new water heater.
WE haven't had hot water for 2 days now and all day today I didn't have water at all.

Totally squirrel girl here!
Another squirrel girl here! Oh, and plumbing is the thing DH hates to do the most! So I feel for you!
I am hoping tomorrow but who knows. Steve plans to be at Lowes at 6am when they open tomorrow. We are supposed to visit his parents this weekend in MN. BUT if he can't get this fixed...........
yes kind of like backpacking except for no bugs, I have lights, & beds, just no water.

It is!! We don't realize until we have to go without. My hands felt sooooo gross yesterday! I used hand sanitizer and baby wipes but eww gross. We went to town twice. It was so nice to wash hands!!!!

Get bottled water, or take some gallon jugs & fill them at a neighbor's or a gas station or a public park with a drinking fountain. Been there when our well went out.
I love the squirrel girl reference, too. I'm always like that. Short attention span.
