2018 Cards For A Cause
MAY MISSION Stamp from the Heart!
ORGANIZATION BEING FEATURED: Martha’s House, Okeechobee, FL http://www.marthashouse.org/ Description of Organization: Martha’s House, Inc, is a private, 501(c)(3) not for profit organization, working to end domestic violence, and to serve survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Martha’s House, Inc. operates a 24-bed emergency shelter and a 24 hr hotline. They provide outreach services; training; violence prevention education; court hearing accompaniment and injunction assistance; victim’s compensation; job placement assistance and more in Okeechobee County, FL. Women fleeing to Martha’s House shelter generally arrive only with the clothes on their back, and usually with children in tow. Martha’s house provides shelter, food, bedding, medicine, training, and assists the women with establishing an independent lifestyle, free from abuse. Outreach programs include presenting in the local school systems and businesses, educating on domestic violence and prevention. Established in 1988, Martha’s House’s goal is to serve all victims of domestic abuse, women, children, male or female, no matter background, race, creed, lifestyle, or identity. Moving our community toward healthy relationships and an intolerance for violence is our passion. NOTE: Martha’s House has asked that each donor include their name and mailing address in the package, so they can send acknowledgements. Gina will be collecting the cards for delivery in early June.

TYPE OF CARDS: Looking for all types of Cards for internal use – Kids, Teens and Adult Birthday, Thank You, Congratulations, Thinking of you, Encouragement, Motivational, and no-sentiment/blank cards. Insides can be Blank or with Sentiment, ready for personal messages and signatures by staff. Different sizes OK. Please include envelopes if possible. The primary recipients of the cards would be the women and children under Martha's House care, and Thank You cards to local/corporate donors.
SPECIAL RESTRICTIONS: No religious cards please. Please do not put personally identifying information on the cards, such as names, email or website addresses.

GUIDELINES: Please keep in mind, we are representing SCS by sending our cards each month. Recycling is always good, but only use products on your cards that you would like to receive on cards. Also, our card donations are not tax deductible and it is not required. Please do not ask for a receipt. There have been groups that will send thank you's but the "referred by" person keeps us informed and passes on the thank you's. Most of these organizations are volunteers and spend countless hours helping others, lets help make their jobs easier and bless them in helping others.
For a little added inspiration you can join us in playing along with the OPTIONAL challenge each month. This is only optional and you do not have to play along to send your cards to the featured cause for the month. We always take cards no matter if you play along in the challenge or not. This months challenge is to be inspired by the picture/color/mood board, see first post below. Be sure to use the keyword C4AC so that we can check out your card and comment! The ladies that run Martha's House are doing a truly amazing job with so little to work with! Your generosity is going to give them another tool in their arsenal to aide the recovery of the women and children they shelter and care for, and guide on their way to independent living free from abuse!
Maybe I'm missing something - but where is the "color mood board"???

perhaps I should not call it a color/mood board, but it is the picture in the second post. it is really an picture to use as inspiration. let me know if you have any other questions.

I had stopped by Martha's House last week - and the staff was all abuzz with all the "i'm in"-type comments they were seeing on this forum, literally hopping up and down to show how excited and overwhelmed they were with the generosity being shown! For them, and myself, I'd like to again express my sincerest gratitude that the ladies of this crafting community are so generously supporting an organization which has become so near and dear to my heart!
Please plan to mail in time to be received by June 9th - I've got to make delivery the following week, before work ships me up north for the rest of the month.... ...wonder if i can ship a box of crafting stuff to hotel to be there when I check in....
...would be nice to have something to keep me busy between shifts....
About 120 cards (Med Flat Rate Box) being sent out today. Had some "down time" this month from the office so I was able to do what I love - make cards for good causes. LOVE this list.
