Default TLC690 ~ Frame it Doodle! ~ (05/14/18)

Hi Guys,

I am traveling next week so Judy traded weeks with me. Since I have been a bit crazy getting ready for my trip, I am doing a pretty simple technique this week.

I love CAS cards but sometimes I battle with the white space. I have seen many artists make their images "pop" by doodling a border around it and decided to try this.

I know I have pulled out doodling two months in a row now, but I promise this one requires a little less concentration and effort than banners and hand lettering . This doesn't need to be an elaborate doodled border, nor is it a squiggly doodled border (we've done that already ) This is a framed doodled border around the image - not the whole card front.

Color up a simple image - I chose a flower (and of course one card led to a set because it was so fun; and I needed a fun break). With a ruler and a fine tip pen, draw a box around your image, then draw a slightly larger box around that - you should now have a frame (again this is around your image not your card front). At this point, you can do whatever you want inside the frame - you can fill it completely in, you can do circles, triangles, whatever you want to decorate your frame. I went with a simple check pattern by just drawing lines an coloring in every other box - no measuring just however it fell. This makes it more fun I think.

I did several of these on a single piece of card then cut them out and adhered to my card fronts. Foam tape could be added to give it more dimension - just have fun with it!

Hi Lyn, just want to clarify - your Keyword for the challenge is TLC690 - Frame it Doodle! however, your sample submissions (Pink, Purple and Orange Flowers) have Keyword as TLC890. Which is the correct number/keyword please? Thank you.

PS I have just tried to click on your link to TLC690 Gallery Submissions and "came up empty".

It takes the gallery software a short time to sync ( the database is HUGE), so when you upload a card it won't instantly show in the keyword-driven galleries. In this case, since Lyn uploaded the first cards in the gallery, it's normal that it would show empty for a short while ;-). Especially if Lyn had the wrong keyword and had to change it, but it's true at the best of times.

Heart TLC690 Berries for Birds

Great challenge Lyn- thank you! I love the berries and cherries this time of year- so I recycled a fruit photo flyer from our mailbox- adding my own drawn frame that "floats off the edge of the page". Kept my coloring simple. Here's Berries for Birds

I have been slowly getting back into my stamp room after a very crazy couple of years and this technique is now one of my new favorites! I LOVE it - so simple but so effective in adding that little something!

I had fun making this somewhat woodland themed hand doodled frame. It is a thank you for dear son, for a hike we did on Mother's Day. The image was gifted to me a long time ago from Colorado, by newstampinaddict. Thanks! I used Gamsol technique with colored pencils salvaged from grown children, for the technique lovers challenge TLC 690, hand doodled frame. I like to think this looks a lot like the many pet rabbbits our kids had over the years, especially mini Rex rabbits.

I'm working on my "Challenge Catch-up" cardmaking goal, and I needed a baby shower card featuring a Winnie the Pooh theme.

My focal Winnie verse is doodled with curlicue doodling. Here is my card: Baby & Winnie Are Roommates!
