Default SU Retiring Products

With the retirement of Chocolate Chip, Daffodil Delight and Eggplant Envy, it is official - I have no current SU ink or paper colors left. Sniff, I feel like it is the end of an era, but they have priced me out of their market and there is so much else out there that is lovely and at more reasonable prices. I had finally had it with the ink pads and constant inky fingers about 2 years ago, but I will miss the excitement of new catalogs!

My demo told me there are 13 colors retiring, but daffodil Delight was not on her list. Where did you see that Daffodil Delight is retiring?

Well, it is listed in the last chance section. I don't know why if they aren't retiring it. Maybe it is part of a group of colors, but they do list it separately 20 lines down.

Just the ink pad is listed not the paper. Maybe they are reformulating the ink?

I saw a blog post from a demo that the design for the ink pads is changing and that could be it. Look for the retiring papers and disregard the inks. I did not see daffodil delight on the retired list....but I could have missed it.

Daffodil Delight is not retiring.SU is changing the shape of their ink pads and will have a revamp of their colors. Here's the PDF of their new color line up:

http://stampwithtami.com/blog/wp-con..._US.pdf?x77163

Check out Tami White's blog as she has part 1 of 3 videos on upcoming catalog. I think this will answer most questions about the color revamp and new stamp pads.

Thanks for the video link!

I do NOT like the new branding....it reminds me of generic products in the 80's, how they had white wrappers with black labels and boxes? Hopefully the younger crowd won't make that connection??

I’m sad to see Rose Red leave. I will have to check my supply of paper and make sure I have a reinker.

Lots to be pleased about! I love that there are 10 new colours over and above the new In Colours. Soft Sea Foam looks like a paler Pistachio I love a pale green. And an actual light blue that is blue, not blue/green. I think there is lots to be happy about, thanks so much for the link!

I don’t mind seeing the retirement of Plum and Artichoke. They have been around since I started in 2004 so it’s time they retired. I have lots of other comments too but that’s enough for the first cursory glance at the line up.

I will miss tangerine tango and tempting turquoise - mainly because I don't see a suitable replacement. I will also miss always artichoke and elegant eggplant too, but I love mossy meadow and blackberry bliss and think they are good replacements for them. I will miss pink pirouette cardstock as I thought it was a great light pink, but found the ink too pale.

I am excited they are bringing back very vanilla because I missed that ink. I am perplexed by adding a third hue of gray. That baffles me. I am also baffled merry merlot, mossy meadow, and night of navy fall in the neutral category (but I guess they have to go somewhere...).

The new colors I am most excited about are granny apple green, gorgeous grape, and highland heather.

Im shocked pink pirouette is retiring. They just made a blending marker for the color.

I will miss chocolate chip and wild wasabi.

The new grape color looks like Gina Ks Wild lilac which I already have.

The new light blue looks like the old bashful blue. Im very happy about that!

Very happy that poppy parade is back.

I kinda thought theyd keep sweet sugarplum because it matches the light rich razzleberry blending marker.

I wish pretty in pink would return.

Does anyone know what the new stamp pads will be like? I gave away all my SU ink pads because I kept pinching fingers, and making an inky mess. I'm hoping they might be great like CTMHs new ones. I might start buying some of their inks again.

This is more a general question about Stampin' Up colors but can anyone tell me how Soft Sky compares to Bashful Blue? I have Bashful Blue but wished it were a lighter, more subtle color. Thanks!

The second link in crazysuziestamper's post has a video that shows the inkpads near the end. Starts around 31:15.

Eeek! I'm so excited that they're bringing back Poppy Parade! I've been trying to find an ink refill for that color for the past three years and now I can buy one. Love that color! Can't believe they're getting rid of Tempting Turquoise though because it's always been a favorite.

I am excited to see the colour comparisons when demos get the new colours and post side by side comparisons. Someone please show me the soft Sea Foam compared with Pistachio! How soon can we expect actual samples from demos, that they are allowed to show us that is?

Soft sky is much much paler than Bashful Blue and a tinge of green to it. It is one of my all time favorite colors, for stamping as especially scrapbooking. So I have already stocked up on refills and cardstock. I still have my Bashful Blue as well. I find giving up blue ink pads is difficult for me because there really are more shades of blue in the world than any other color - or so a decorator told me once, and I agree.

The new Balmy Blue might be a good substitute for Bashful Blue. The new Soft Sea Foam looks like it is a very very pale green with a tinge of gray to it in the color swatches I have seen online.

Hmmm, maybe I need to get Soft Sky before it retires. All my blue inks are darker or more intense than pastel.

My customers got to try one on Monday night. They described it as "opening like a compact".

Does that mean the top doesn't detach from the pad?

There are a bunch of videos on youtube showing the new ink pads. I have not seen one in person, but from the videos it looks like it opens like a compact and then the lid slides under the ink pad half - no detaching. It looks to me like the only difference (other than streamlining the shape) is that you don't have to pull or push the top horizontally before you open it. You just open it upward like a paper pumpkin box and when it is fully open it slides under the other part? That sounds confusing, even to me....type in 2018 stampin up new ink pads and a bunch of videos come up that explain it better.

Thanks for the explanation. That does make sense but I'll go check out some videos. I was hoping the top slid under at least, so I can use it with stamps on my Misti.

Imagine this, if you can...

Old style. Push top away from you about 1/4 inch. Reach over to the back and flip the top all the way towards you until flat and slide it away from you into the base.

New style. Lift top like you would open a compact and open all the way to flat. Slide the top toward you into the base.

In both the pad itself is in the top and ends up upside down in the top when closed. In both the pad is fully exposed and there's no lid in the way.

I will probably never buy another SU stamp pad. I never liked the pads on the ones they've had lately. So if that stays the same, I am not interested. I have all the old and beloved ones with reinkers that will last me for a long time. Right now nothing beats my Tim Holtz Oxide Distress inks.

Does anyone know the price in the new catalog of ink pad, reinker, and single color 24 sheet pack of cardstock?

I'm with Liz! I have my favourite colours and find no need to change everytime there is a new catalogue (since I am not an SU rep). The pads and reinkers I have now will last me for the rest of my stamping days! As for cardstock...the same rule applies...enough colours to last a lifetime! LOL and I really haven't liked any of the colours they have been introducing lately.

I don't know for sure, but unheard ink pads would be $7.50. I would like to know too! I'm sure some of the demos who already have a catalog can fill us in better.

In the US as of June 1, 2018:

Ink Pads = $7.50
Ink Refill = $3.75
Cardstock - 8.5" x 11" 24ct = $8.50

Thank you Brenda!

I also heard that single color cardstock packs would no longer be available. Is this true?

Why would SU stop selling single colored cardstock packs? I think they would lose a lot of customers if SU only sold multi color cardstock packs.

I for one do not collect every single color of cardstock, and I don't buy multi colored cardstock packs. So then I would have to find another company to get single color cardstock from, which means I then have to purchase new companies ink to match the new cardstock.

Interested in where you heard this.

The only single packs of card stock I see on the retirement list are the InColors and core colors that are retiring. If all single color card stock packs were being discontinued then all of them would be listed on the retirement list.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to love the new Merry Merlot.

I’m SO EXCITED they are bringing back Blackberry Bliss and Mossy Meadow!!
I won’t even miss Always Artichoke.

HAPPY there are two new purples as well!

I plan on keeping my Island Indigo until I use up the paper, and probably my Pink Pirouette as well. I much preferred this pale pink over Blushing Bride. However; I don’t actually use a lot of pale pink in my crafting so overall not a big deal.

I think that Mango color adds nice variety to the yellows. They could have dumped So Saffron and I would not have been sad.

Long overdue retirement of Perfect Plum and Rose Red.

I like the new design of the ink pads but I’m not in love with the basic black and white for their “new branding” on all products. It makes me think “generic”. Back in the day if you didn’t want to spend the money on name brand items at the grocery store, the generic or store brand would have a plain black and white label.

Can’t wait to get the new catalog!!!

Black and white makes me think "cheap" because I print in black and white when I can to save my color ink cartridge!

I'm always hoping to hear that they are changing their cardstock to 100 or 110 lb. like the other major brands. I can't justify spending that much on thinner paper like theirs.
