Has anyone made their own distress oxide stamp pads with reinkers and uninked pads? I'm assuming you need to use a foam pad. If you have done this, are you happy with the results?
I have made my own for the first 12 colors, unfortunately I haven't had a chance to use them yet though. I hope that is soon and I'll report back to this post, if I can find it.
Karen3000, I'm sorry, I misread your question! I thought you asked about making mini versions of the Oxide pads. No idea why, blame the fact I've been in & out of hospital appts for 3 days with my COPD! Now I've read the question properly, I can't see any reason why that would not work. I do know you can buy blank Distress Ink pads, and having just compared a DI pad and a DO pad, they look pretty much the same.
I was originally thinking mini cubes and have found some pads with foam instead of felt. If Tim Holt doesn't believe he can produce an oxide mini cube pad, then I am not going to try LOL. Thanks for your responses!

I just watched a video Tim did recently for scrapbook.com and he said the chemists at Ranger are working on trying to get the formula to be compatible with the mini cubes.
Because the inks don't mix well together (evidence: the instructions to shake well, even having a mixing ball in the bottle) I would think that with a small pad, there would be a possibility of not having a proper blend of the two types of inks, compared to the larger pad.

But the post I was referring to was about TH coming out with mini pads like the big ones. Why wouldn't they be able to put it on a mini pad but they can put it on a big pad? That doesn't make sense.

I have to agree with you. I know that TH said that the Oxide ink pads wouldn't be made available in the smaller pads because there isn't enough room for the ink to blend properly, but that doesn't make sense to me either. The ink doesn't "blend" on the ink pad. It's already blended during the manufacturing process. If you can use a re-inker on the large pad, I see no reason why you couldn't make your own mini Distress Oxide ink cubes. It wouldn't hurt to give it a try. I think that sometimes people just accept what TH says without questioning anything. He might (gasp!) be wrong.

And that was not to say that at some point in the future they may not be able to fix the issue, simply that was how things stood at the moment.

Probably because the cubes hold less and dry out faster than the bigger pads. With less of the inks to begin with any minor vagaries of the product, like needing stored flat because the pigment might migrate, could become an annoying issue that turns people off.
I just inked up some blank mini cubes with Distress Oxide reinkers, but I have not gotten a chance to use them yet. I'm hoping that they work out well so that I can do some more. I will hopefully get to try them out soon and try to post photos on here for everybody.

Yes, but once it's on the salad, you don't have to keep shaking it to eat it. And why don't the inks separate on the larger pads, since there's more room to move around? Not losing sleep over it, but it's not logical.
LOL!!! Though if you don't eat it quick enough, the dressing does eventually work it's way to the bottom of your dish. LOL
JUBILLI - I bet it'll work pretty good. I think it's probably over a period of time it becomes a problem.
I have SU little ink cubes and I've had some weird stuff happen with some of them. Like crystallization on the top of the pad.
Here are my DIY Distress Oxide minis. I put the ink on the ink cubes about 4-ish weeks ago. I have not had a chance to use them with stamps. I just flipped them over onto the paper towel and pressed 4-5 times to get the ink to transfer from the cube onto the paper towel and the coverage looks pretty good and the ink colors are still mixed together.
