Welcome to Thursday's Ways To Use It challenge. March 22 is World Water Day.Most of us take it for granted. We have instant access to clean, safe water to drink and cook with, to bathe in, to play in, to water our gardens and wash our cars. But 28% of the world's population do not share that luxury.
Damaged ecosystems affect the quantity and quality of water available for human consumption. Today, 2.1 billion people live without safe drinking water at home; affecting their health, education and livelihood. The theme for World Water Day 2018 is ‘Nature for Water’ – exploring nature-based solutions to the water challenges we face in the 21st century.
So let's focus on water today and use a water image and/or water based technique. It can be as simple as spray or splatter water on dye ink or follow a water technique new to you, here's a few SCS tutorials; the brand new inkling Stamping with Watercolor Powders, Dappled Watercolor Background, Vintage Watercolor, Watercolor Imprints, Watercolor Marble. That's just a few from a SCS tutorial search!! And while you're playing, focus on that marvelous resource and appreciate how truly blessed we are to have such ready access. Got any tips for saving water?

Carla- thanks for the great challenge! I embossed some trees before dampening my paper and applying the watercolors. Had a rickety looking die cut bike to pair with my stamped bike image and sentiment. Here's Enjoy the Adventure

I confess that I did not make this card today. I had made it awhile ago but never uploaded it to SCS. But it fit today's WT challenge so well that I couldn't resist uploading it now. I'm not very good at watercolor techniques (actually tried one first, but tossed it), so my card depicts some water.
Carla- just had to do another card- this time in soft baby colors- propped up my kanga with dimensionals- and used a cloudy sky embossing folder under my pearlescent watercolor background. Simple embellishments- washi tape and 2 brads/bows. Here's Thankful Kanga

Went mixed media, combining the dappled watercolor background (with shine from pearlescent watercolors) and some alcohol blending (F4A422).
Got the layout idea from my stamping friend Nancy, and dusted off a cute set from Close To My Heart for my hedgehog and sentiment. Here's Smile

My card features sparkly, colored embossing paste rain and rain clouds. I colored my white embossing paste with a light shake of Turquoise Brushos and stirred a couple of light shakes of Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. I use a Raindrops stencil to add the paste. I did the same with Grey Brushos for my rain clouds, using a Cloud stencil. Here is my card: A Birthday with Lots of Technique!
