MARCH 2018 Mission - CARDS FOR A CAUSE
2018 Cards For A Cause
MARCH MISSION Stamp from the Heart!
ORGANIZATION BEING FEATURED: SECU Hospice House of Brunswick - Lower Cape Fear Hospice Description of Organization: Hospice is a benefit that offers healthcare, assistance, and education to support patients and their families facing the challenges of an advanced illness. It is individualized care that offers compassion, dignity, comfort, respect, and someone to call for assistance, anytime day or night. (My mother was admitted to this Hospice Center in December. The staff and volunteers were there for her and her family throughout her stay. I don't know what we would have done without Hospice to help us through this time. I want to collect the cards for other families and also for staff to use as needed.
CONTACT PERSON: Teresa - va.sunshine
Referred by: Diane Schneider - dls881
TYPE OF CARDS: Cards suitable for children and adults that can be used for any occasion. Please leave inside blank. Please include envelopes if possible.
GUIDELINES: Please keep in mind, we are representing SCS by sending our cards each month. Recycling is always good, but only use products on your cards that you would like to receive on cards. Also, our card donations are not tax deductible and it is not required. Please do not ask for a receipt. There have been groups that will send thank you's but the "referred by" person keeps us informed and passes on the thank you's. Most of these organizations are volunteers and spend countless hours helping others, lets help make their jobs easier and bless them in helping others.
For a little added inspiration you can join us in playing along with the OPTIONAL challenge each month. This is only optional and you do not have to play along to send your cards to the featured cause for the month. We always take cards no matter if you play along in the challenge or not. This months challenge is to be inspired by the color/mood board, see first post below. Be sure to use the keyword C4AC so that we can check out your card and comment! To see this gallery C4AC click here.
THANK YOU!

and because I luv visual inspriation and I am sooooo ready for spring, here is a sweet pic to get you started...this is OPTIONAL you can use colors, shapes, or texture, or anything that inspires you.
be sure to use this link if you share this image....
There are no restrictions on the type of card; just leave the inside blank. The cards are going to be placed in the family dining room and I know looking over all the cards will be a welcome distraction for the families.
We were there during the holidays, there was a basket of handmade tree ornaments and another one had crocheted crosses and of course, all the donated food. Sometimes we just needed to leave the room to get a small break.

This is a wonderful cause. Both of my parents were at Hospice. I would like to clarify something, please. When I first read this, I thought that every card should be suitable for all occasions with a general sentiment such as “Thinking of You”,” “Praying for You.,” etc. But now I’m reading that there are no restrictions, so would you like a variety of cards such as some birthday, some thank you, some sympathy, etc.? I know that insides should be left blank. Thanks!
Hospice tended to my Dad during his last...and were wonderful!!
I'm In! I just gotta make sure i get my cards made and shipped before i pull out for our Cruise end of the month.
I have similar question as Susie. I have a range of different cards, from happy birthday, thank you, think of you to hello and some other uplifting miscellaneous cards. Will they be suitable?Thank you

I would say yes, any cards. I think of all sorts of things....hospice workers putting in lots and lots of house but need a birthday card for a family member, they could pick one out of the basket and not have to stop at store. a hospice worker grabbing a few to take to a family that is using service; they too need a card to send out and getting to the store in times like these are few and far between.

I think all occasions will work except for the sympathy cards.

Since the cards are going to be picked through, i'm thinking it might not be a bad idea to put the cards in sleeves....
i have plenty of the book style ones, and will ship along some extras.
and i believe there's prolly not too many restrictions on card size -
could we get that confirmed?

No restrictions on card size. I'm going to hand deliver them.
I've pretty well wiped out my 'bank' with the 24 cards I've packaged up for shipping, but wanted to get these out before I lost track for getting ready for cruise! I'll have to work twice as hard in April when I get back to get enough cards made up for Swaps i support! Priority box Tracking #94058036 9930 0602 7623 44.

I received a box of cards for an ongoing cause - Operation Quiet Comfort. I'm not sure if they are from someone in this group - but if they are I want to say thank you!

I'm hoping we are finished with the unseasonably cold weather. I live in coastal NC. Yesterday it was 75, on wednesday, we'll be back in the 50's. Gotta love NC weather! You never know what you're going to get.
Hi Teresa,
Here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin it's cold but we have NO snow! That's fine with us. The sun is warm so it looks nice out there but the temps are staying around 40.
I saw a robin yesterday. They always seem to come back early and then are shivering until it warms up finally in June! Takes a long time for Spring to get here it seems, but we are a patient lot. :p
Todays a good day to work on my card stash.

I've put each card and its envelope in a clear protective sleeve so the person picking can see what the card looks like when flipping through them; then on the back, I included a post-it note saying what the inside greeting reads (Happy Birthday, Thinking of You, etc.), if anything, but the vast majority say "Blank."
Wonderful cause and so happy to be able to participate!
Maggie
