2018 Cards For A Cause
FEBRUARY MISSION Stamp from the Heart!
ORGANIZATION BEING FEATURED: Bright Star Center of Health First
Description of Organization: The Bright Star Center assists children ages 3-18 through the grieving process. Children grieve very differently than adults. At Bright Star they are encouraged to express grief both verbally and through positive play. Art, Children's yoga, grief groups, and a one day camp are just a few activities offered.
Teens in the program take pride in "giving back" through a pet food bank program that donates food to families in the hospice program. This program offers Fellowship and a sense of purpose. These kids are amazing!!

TYPE OF CARDS: Birthday, Encouragement, Thank You cards for the teens to use, any other cards for young children to young adult. Please include envelopes if possible.

GUIDELINES: Please keep in mind, we are representing SCS by sending our cards each month. Recycling is always good, but only use products on your cards that you would like to receive on cards. Also, our card donations are not tax deductible and it is not required. Please do not ask for a receipt. There have been groups that will send thank you's but the "referred by" person keeps us informed and passes on the thank you's. Most of these organizations are volunteers and spend countless hours helping others, lets help make their jobs easier and bless them in helping others.
For a little added inspiration you can join us in playing along with the OPTIONAL challenge each month. This is only optional and you do not have to play along to send your cards to the featured cause for the month. We always take cards no matter if you play along in the challenge or not. This months challenge is to be inspired by the color/mood board, see first post below. Be sure to use the keyword C4AC so that we can check out your card and comment! I love this cause and it hits a little close to home for me. I volunteered for a local Hospice for a couple of years and one summer I served as the Arts & Crafts Counselor at a week-long grief counseling camp for kids who have lost an immediate family member. It was very rewarding and I can only hope that I helped to ease their pain in some small way. I will gladly send in cards for this cause.

Having recently lost my mother after a 10 day hospice stay, I cannot say enough about the staff and volunteers there. They all were wonderful; taking care of my mother and her family. I spoke to the volunteer coordinator there and recently brought a stack of cards to be kept out for anyone who may need one. I plan to bring some every month. (since I don't trust my cooking enough to bring meals there, I decided to bring in cards) So Thank you for you volunteer work!

they use these to send to others. most of the cards we send each month are for our receivers to use to send to others. if it is for other reasons it would be stated. thank you so much for joining us in giving back!

Hi Everyone! First I want to apologize for taking so long to acknowledge the cards that have been coming in. I have been quite sick and just unable to until now. I really am sorry.
I have received cards from Diane Schnieder, Johnsine Hashimoto, Paula Anderson, Kathleen Desantis-Deigman, Cheryl Yamashita, Diane Mishko, Denise Pettingill, Delores Poitz, Adriana R Benitez, Maggie Minnich, Karren E Olaveson, Jen Schilling, Lorraine Davis and Kathi Crouse. There is a total of 381 absolutely beautiful cards!
There is literally every type of card that is needed and for boys and girls of all ages. The cards are just beautiful. I can see the time, effort and love of your craft in every card. I can also see the love and caring for these dear sweet kids in every card.
The social workers are excited to start using them. Someone is picking them up from me on Friday and they will be ready to use on Monday! The kids will love them!
I will keep you all updated as I receive your cards.

I saw there was a little confusion over what were needed for the teens. Sorry I was not real clear on that. They do need Birthday cards and encouraging, uplifting cards for the social workers to write in for the teens. And yes, they do need some Thank You cards for the teens to use. Any cards that are sent, they will use!

Donna, my box went postal today and is schedule to reach you on Wednesday. I pulled together 24 birthday and thank you cards and then on Friday, reread your posts and the original post. I spent the weekend cranking out 6 versions of encouragement cards for the teens (4 cards each for another 24 cards). Hope they are what you need. And sorry for getting this in right under the wire.
