The trademark was registered in December 2016, but the only place they seem to be showing up AT ALL is Vaessen Creative, and they are all showing as "out of stock". Weird...
I called an LSS friend today and she thought they might be selling in Japan but not here yet. I have a daughter in law living in Japan. I'll get her to check it out.

Well sleuthed! The mentions mostly seem to have #newrelease alongside as well and the posting dates are April so I'm guessing we'll start seeing more about it soon.
I found a site that described Versafine Clair and estimated the date of sale in the US to be in December of this year.
This is their description of one of these ink pads pictured on their site:
-The ink pad has a lift off lid providing easier access
-Increased control when inking stamps
-The slimmer 2 part container is easier to handle and air tight
-It is the same ink quality but the pigment is deeper/stronger
-Vibrant and vintage shades
-More contemporary label designs
-Embossable
-More suitable for modern stamps, the solid lines in images now appear much sharper
thanks maryalena, that sounds like they will be an interesting pad to try out. I wonder if these will eventually replace the 'old' Versafine pads? I shall at least by the black when it is finally launched, just to see what I think. I have a couple of refills for my current black pad, so I'll always have that to fall back on.
Thanks for posting this link. It shows the top of each inkpad color in the new line. I noticed one of the colors shown is Pinecone...that happens to be the name of a color in the VersaColor line of Pigment inks, and it is one of my favorites because it is an luscious brown/green/taupe color and works well for sentiments on cards with brown tones.
I hope, hope, hope they come out with this new iteration of Versafine pads/colors SOON because I want that Pinecone one! 😎 Also the black, because Versafine Onyx black is my go-to black ink and gets used on nearly every card I make.

Looks like they're going to be available December of this year in UK and US, according to Personnel Impressions site, and info from our SCS detectives!
I think this is going to satisfy a lot of us, as more colours has always been everyones main requirement for Versafine! Lets just keep our fingers crossed that it's as good as the original. Almost sounds like they are going down the Hybrid route with this one, as they are saying it is heat embossable too.
Just an FYI, the current Versafine inks are great for heat embossing. They would be my first choice for that technique, depending on the color I wanted.

I wonder if they'd eventually come in minis like the Versafines. Except for black that's what I use almost all the time.
I wonder what is meant by pigment being deeper/stronger. Then what? : ) If they're talking about richness of color, I can't imagine richer than Versafine. I guess we'll find out eventually.
Found a video in Spanish. The gal did a comparison of VersaFine's Onyx Black vs the new (not available yet Aug.2018?) Nocturne. She also demo'd other colors. There are dark colors and a set of brights. I wonder how close these colors are to the originals. I like the new style of lids.

The Vaessen website mentioned in another post showed the colors and release dates. Somewhere I saw a price of around $11 per pad-might have been for a pre-order from Etsy.
If you go to etsy.com and search on "versafine clair" three shops pop up. Prices are $7.50, $7.90 and $11.50. I purchased a few to see how I like them. The description seems very Versafine-like. : )
When I put them in my cart a note stated there were something like 15 each and 8 or 9 people had them in their carts. Delivery is 2-4 weeks : ( and I'm a little confused about shipping - I thought the price was left than it ended up being.
I didn't see that the other Etsy sellers had them on pre-order but didn't look really hard.

Shipping was less expensive for the shop selling them for $7.90 so I went with them, just buying Verdant and Warm Breeze to test. If they're like "normal" Versafine I'll be thrilled. Shipping was only $4.20 though they're coming from Malaysia, and it will be a while before they get here.
The ones for $7.50 are in Japan. The $11.00 ones have a flat shipping rate of $10.00 (and no tracking) if I recall, and may be in the U.S.
Hah, I have family living in Japan for a few years and they can’t even find them in downtown Tokyo. Go figure. My understanding is that imagine Crafts will have them sometime in January. I’m very interested in how they test out. Maybe they will hit about the same time as the next batch of Oxides. Wow Malaysia, I wouldn’t have guesssed that.
I've gotten the sense there are quite a few Malaysian dealers on Etsy. I bought custom photopolymer stamps for the back of my cards from a Malaysian supplier. I didn't notice it when I placed the order. As I'd want to tweak the design he'd email back changes very quickly. The shipping took a while. But even then when it hadn't arrived toward the end of the timeframe it was expected, he asked me to let him know if it didn't show up within a couple days, and if not he'd make/send another.
Some Etsy dealers have a "if it's lost in transit it's not my fault" rule so that was refreshing.
And the stamp was unusual. It was photopolymer but on a handle - like the old fashioned PAID stamps? But you just peeled it off to stick onto a block or platform. I hadn't seen that before.

You can get them from Lavinia Stamps in the UK- she does ship to the USA, but I don't know what the cost would be. Pads are �5.80, or $7.72. She has the full range of 24 colours. I think I may grab a couple to try.
Thats good to hear, bjeans. I did order three in the end, Fallen Leaves, Twilight & Nocturne. I see the description is the same as on the back of the Versafine pads- a quick drying pigment ink- so I'm hoping it's going to be a very similar ink. Will be great if it is, with 24 colours.
Last night I got an email from another UK shop that has them but I've already forgotten which one, since I'm on several UK lists. So I went looking this a.m.
buddlycrafts.com, also in the U.K., has them for $6.11 with shipping to the U.S. either $9.03 or $3.30 (faster/slower). I've ordered from them before. I *think* the amount is in U.S. dollars but double check.
I ordered Warm Breeze and Verdant since they look so different than regular Versafine colors. Plus anything teal/turquoise/aqua...

That's why I bought two - to compare to Versafine. Since they're not yet sold in the U.S., standard go-to websites don't have reviews or info yet.

Shaz's review will be here earlier than mine. Hers are in the UK, she's in the UK... Mine are coming from Malaysia so should be here in about 80 months. I didn't think to look in the UK (dumb).
Someone on another thread spoke of having "eleventy billion" colored stamp pads. I am still laughing at that one.
But I know the feeling. I ordered some nice charms for mixed media, but they are coming from China. Which is where most of these charms are made anyway, except mine are actually coming from a vendor there who has an Etsy store. In probably 80 weeks.

Oh, and I watched the video with subtitles, so I got at least a little of what she said. I do not think it makes sense to compare the Clair pads with the Versafine cubes. The tops of the cubes fall off. I have slowly collected more than half the colors in full size pads, and the full sized are beautifully designed with a top that flips over and goes underneath the pad while you work, as most of you aleady know.

I have full and cube Versafine and the ink is the same, so I'm missing why comparing Clairs with either full sized or cubed wouldn't make sense?
I love the cubes and don't like the flip lid, so only kept full sized in black and smokey gray, which I use tons. I gave the others away. I had been considering breaking off the lid but didn't want to ruin it and probably make a big mess.
The lids of my Versafine, Hero Arts and Altenew cubes are all loose. That doesn't bother me, maybe because of how they're stored. If I take inks anywhere Plastibands are put around each pad.
ETA I just received my first two Gina K cubes and they've very tight - to the point that I'm not sure I'll be comfortable with them, given a lower thumb issue.
I just mentioned it because the woman in the video said something about it, demonstrated how nice and tight the lids were on the Clair, as opposed to the cubes, which were all she had.
Of course it's not what we really care about. I was just saying.

There's a pretty comprehensive review here - she stamps on different surfaces, compares with other inks etc. The description of them being oil-based pigment inks makes it sound as if they should be comparable to Versafine since that's what they are. Be interesting to see how they perform with very detailed stamps (one thing the review doesn't really do).
Thanks! She doesn't compare them to Versafine? That would seem odd, right? That seems to be the number one question - or one of the top questions, anyway. (If I could watch now I wouldn't have to ask.)
She seems to simply talk about them as if they are a indeed new version of Versafine, and compares them to Memento, Distress, Versacolor and the like. And they seem to come out on top for everything but use on glossy surfaces, which is exactly like the current Versafine.
I think the photographic stamp test was meant to show the ink's ability to capture detail. Too bad you can't use Versafine on glossy paper, which is where a photographic stamp really shines best.
I wonder if this means that the current Versafine will now be replaced by this ink. If so, I will miss the hinged lid, which I love and always thought was one of the best inkpad designs out there. But I will also rejoice in the many new colors. We've all been saying for years that the only thing wrong with Versafine is the limited color palette.
