Some time earlier this year or could have been last year I bought a few packs of the magnetic vent covers and cut them down to fit inside my Stampin Up framelits envelopes to store my die cuts. While they're okay, I'm looking for something maybe a little sturdier and a little more "magnetic".
I've been cleaning out my stamping space and would like to consolidate a little more. Right now I have all of my stamp sets stored in Stampin Up's DVD cases. Their matching framelits/die cuts are still in their original envelope and stored in one of the wafer die storage boxes from Stamp-n-Storage. While I love the set up, I want to have the stamp set and matching framelit/die cut stored together inside the DVD case. I checked out the magnet cards from Stamp-n-Storage but they seem a bit pricey ($21.75 for a set of 10) Any suggestions on where I could find 5x7 magnet cards that are pretty sturdy and has a strong magnetic hold?

I find the magnetic vent covers work just fine when taped to something sturdy. It could be a piece of laminated cardstock or it could be the inside of the DVD case like you are talking about.
I bought a pack of business-card size adhesive magnets at Staples and adhered them as needed in the SU cases to keep my dies with stamps. They weren’t very expensive to begin with and I have a ton to use.
I buy mine on Amazon from Valley Magnet. I buy in bulk to save $. They hold well, I like that they are adhesive backed. The way I store my thin dies are 6x8 cards so I use 2 per card. I tried vent covers and they just didn't hold as well for me and I had pieces left over that I had to cut to fit. https://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-Shee...agnetic+sheets

I like that the vent covers are reasonably priced and dies stick well to it when fastened to something a bit stiffer.
Ditto this - I tape my vent cover magnets to really sturdy chipboard and the dies don't come loose until I want them to. It's not the magnet isn't strong enough, it's that it flexes and then the dies pop loose.
I bought the magnetic sheets with adhesive backs and attach them to lightweight cardboard (cereal boxes, etc) then I put 2 “pages” into 5.5” x 8.5” page protectors

These are the ones I use too - best value out there!

some are saying that they adhere their magnet to a piece of chipboard so it's sturdier. do you have to do the same with these? I plan on putting them on the inside of my Stampin Up DVD cases with their coordinating stamp set. Does the adhesive stick pretty well to the plastic? That's what I'm having a hard time with

I do put mine on chipboard but I'm storing the dies upright in hanging file folders. The adhesive is great, and the DVD cases will be perfect.
I use the vent covers too with cardboard in a plastic sleeve. I agree about the pop off. Mine are not attached. I am cool with just sliding them out horizontally over my desk and taking the one I want.
A possible 2 in 1 answer might be the mag/cling pages. They are rigid, they are mag on one side and you can stick cling/clear to the back. I was doing this originally but the cases they go with are HORRIBLE and back if you look at them wrong.
Come in full 8 1/2 x 11 size and a half size...they are expensive relatively. I am thinking you put your stamp/die set on it and pop it in a plastic sleeve. i cut mine down to use that way. I cut them with my holtz scissor-little difficult.
Yay! I tried typing in the item instead of using the link and voile! there they are! Thank you! Ordered them with delivery today! ( I will look into trying your friends' business in Round Rock.)
I use the vent covers and cut them down to fit inside the case and use a heavy duty double sided adhesive tape to secure them. Mine have held fine. I found that my dies always slid off of the ones from Oriental trading company.

I adhere mine to a piece of cardstock and they don't flop around. Note that my cardstock is 6x8 so I have 2 magnets per sheet. The adhesive is really strong but I haven't tested them on plastic coating.
They may be available elsewhere and watch for a sale.
Sadly, Crafters Companion has quit making their magnetic sheets. I wish I'd known they were going to do that, because I'd have ordered a boatload before they disappeared.

Well you could make it I suppose...attach vent mag to regular stamp storage pages...but it looks like Maslex made a decision
I posted a similar question on Facebook recently, and one person suggested these: Zutter Magnetic Die and Stamp Storage Refill Sheets They have the advantage of being large, but they're also pretty pricey.
Someone else suggested these, which work out to be quite a bit cheaper, but probably would have to be mounted on chipboard or something that might hold coordinating stamps on the back: https://smile.amazon.com/Magnetic-Sh.../dp/B004SGTN14

What heavy duty double sided adhesive do you use? Because of the price point, I decided to go with the vent covers and I cut them down to size to fit inside of my DVD cases. I used some liquid glue that was suggested somewhere else and it just isn't staying.

I've used Scor Tape with good results; I also had really good luck with some carpet tape that I've had in the tool box for ages. I doubt that's it's archival, but I figured it didn't matter for sticking magnet to chipboard
I, too, use vent covers and attach them to chipboard. I keep them in the plastic envelope they come in, but to make it easier to find the one that matches any particular stamp set, I write with permanent marker under the name of the die the set that they match. Sometimes one die set works with multiple stamp sets. I also write on the stamp set which die matches it. That way I don't need to remember which stamp set I have put a particular die into. I find vent covers are relatively inexpensive and available at most big box hardware stores.

The tape I mentioned in post #2 is outstanding. It sticks REAL good! ;)
I use the ones from Stamp-n-Storage and feel they are worth the price. The packs now come with heavy dividers that help me label categories in my storage box. Watch for their specials. I got a good buy at our stamp convention last fall.

I bought a different brand but the same thickness, and use them in the same SU case as their matching stamps. Because of the flexibility, dies don't stay 100% of the time, but the dies aren't falling out of the closed case, so it's fine for me.

My method is almost identical, to the one you mentioned, the only differences being that I use the Michael's 110 pound cardstock (had to find a way to use it in an economic fashion)because it does not go through my printer.:( The other thing that I do is punch out colored cardstock dots and attach them to the original folder and stick a matching one/s to the corresponding die or punch. Seems to be working very well for me.
I use those adhesive backed sheets from Amazon, too - the Magnet Valley ones. Like basketdiva, I attach them to a piece of lightweight cardstock, cut from either a cereal or cracker box. I cut the cardboard to the same size as the magnet, adhere the magnet to the front (so it covers the design on the box), and slip that into the original sleeves that Stampin' Up dies are packaged in. (My non-SU thin dies use the same system, except that I store them in an Avery-Elle-type plastic sleeve.)
For most of mine, I've also die-cut examples for each die, and neatly arrange them on a piece of white cardstock, cut just slightly smaller than die case or sleeve. I can then slip that into the sleeve, too, so that when I flip through them, I can quickly see what they are. Works great for me.

The best (stiff backing and strong magnetic pull) are from Stamp 'n' Storage, but they are a bit pricey, so sign up for emails from them at their site and wait for one of their periodic sales.

Yes, the Stamp n Storage magnets do go on sale quite often, but sales only last a day or so. One really good thing to remember is that there is always free shipping on the magnets, so the price stated is the total price (+ your state’s sales tax). Their magnets are really strong and I have used them for several years with great success.
