WT659 ~ Cut it Out!! (10/26/2017)
Happy Thursday and welcome to another Ways to Use It Challenge. Carla here, as this week's hostess. It's time to Cut it Out!!! Here's your opportunity to show off your fussy cutting skills or use decorative scissors to shape or edge a panel or card or you could wow us all with Scherenschnitte skills! No punches, die cuts or electronic cutting, get out your scissors!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now we want to make sure everyone can play, so for crafters with difficulty using scissors, die cutting or punches are permitted. But if you're able to use those scissors, challenge yourself to use them!!
When you've finished your creation, upload your card with the keyword WT659 and then come back and share a link here - that makes it easy for people to find your card. It's especially appreciated by the hostesses!!
If you're not sure how to add a link, here's how:
1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one for your card in the gallery, and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.
Here's the link for our WT659 gallery. Take a look and spread somelove around by leaving comments for your fellow crafters!
Below are some marvelous samples from Lisa and Sabrina. Thank you ladies for sharing your creativity!
Here's a link to my card Retro Trick or Treat.

I hope that most people will be able to try to use a scissors somewhere, even if it's only cutting a curved edge for a snowline or something like that. Remember it's easier to turn the paper and hold the scissors in the same place. Sorry, I am struggling to describe this.
Interesting to see that Carla mentions Scherrenschnitte in her write-up, if I hadn't really wanted to revisit the technique I used, this was on my list. We have a tutorial for it HERE.

Hmmm, I was contemplating what I wanted to do and then I saw your sample, Sabrina, and thought, "I want to try that technique!" So now I'm mulling ideas for that.

I was checking out the technique sabrina linked and they mentioned the video, however I don't see a video. Is it just me or has the video been removed? I'm on my tablet so I will look on my computer when I get up, but thought I'd ask if you all can see a video in the tutorial?
Not sure I will try that particular tutorial, but will definitely do some fussy cutting!

Sometimes it is great to get back to "basics" and using tools that most of us started with. : ) Thanks.

FF17Yeti WT659 Cat-tankerous
Carla- such a wonderful challenge, it allowed me to cut a wonky sentiment element and main panel (of course that involved ripping, another of my favorites!) I used a stamp "new to me"- and scratched my head for awhile before I came up with this sentiment. Kept it simple for my embellishments with a mini brad and a vertical ribbon border. Here's FF17Yeti WT659 Cat-tankerous

Sorry, busy day (week) in work. No, I don't see a video, and I don't straight off see one in the SCS YouTube channel, but it's hard to search that on my phone. Not sure I'll even make it upstairs to the PC today.

Thanks for adding the link to the Scherenschnitte tutorial, Sabrina. I didn't think to check our tutorials. (insert smack to head here) I made an initial attempt with a solid image yesterday, embossing it would have made all the difference. I'll have to try it again.

I made a scrapbook page for this challenge - the inspiration to pull out my deco scissors was fun, and I made fussy cut flowers too.
