Default TLC661 ~ Spots of Colour ~ {10/23/2017}

It's Sabrina here as your hostess this week - with a DIY version of simple two-step stamping, Spots of Colour.

Last year in April, TLC580 was a One Layer card challenge from Judy. Many of you know that Monday is housework day for me, so if I'm creating on the day, it's going to be a quick card. That day, I stamped a quite detailed image from Flourishes, and just added colour very quickly by stamping a couple of solid stamps here and there. I've attached that card below, but created a new card for today's challenge with a couple of step-out photos, so that you will see what I mean.
You will need a line-art image, and a couple of small solid stamps. I used the circle from Work of Art and a pencil eraser for my sample.

Stamp the line-art image in a dark colour of ink.
Use the solid stamp(s) to add colour - we're going for an impression, not precision.
Use your panel to create a card.

If you don't have any small solid stamps - think of die-cutting a couple of small circles from fun foam and using them (see the Die-cut stamps tutorial HERE), or even just use your finger tip. It doesn't have to be a circular shape, you could use a small heart or square...

I used three different colours for my flower head, and then one green (with the eraser) for the leaves.

Here's a link to our TLC661 Spots of Colour gallery

Here's my card: TLC661 Spotted Prayer

Remember to use the keyword TLC661 when you are uploading. It's helpful (to the hostesses for sure!) if you come back and leave a link on this thread .

If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:

1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.

Hi, this is my first time here, I made a card for a totally different challenge but had difficulty loading it. Then received the email for this challenge using the technique I used, so thought it would be appropriate, although I put slightly more than a few spots. I hope it is acceptable. This is my card for this challenge.

Loved this technique, Sabrina! I was gone for a long week-end so this truly "fit the bill" as a quick and easy way to color an image. Thanks.

I figured out how to play from home - just click all the blank spaces until I finally get lucky and hit the invisible upload button!!! Takes a bit of time but at least I'm (sorta) back. Here's my card for today:

Heart TLC661 vintage flowers

I used an embedded image, cutting out the area behind it for a one layer card. Inks I used for my dots were almost amethyst and kiwi kiss. I like the effect it made! Here's vintage flowers

I promised myself I would finally participate in this challenge, regardless of.. anything, since I'm the queen of excuses! So here's mine. Love wonky circles, so thank you! I hope this works.

Wonky Circles by bjeans at Splitcoaststampers

It works. It's bright white, not cream, so hopefully it's okay to repost it tomorrow when I have better light for a "phone photo."

I think this technique has possibilities, Sabrina, but I'm not sure I chose a good image. (Also, I'm sure I have small solid stamps but couldn't find them quickly). Here's my first try, and I'll try to remember to revisit this technique.

Sorry, time zone difference ;-). I can't tell from the picture if you've used a stamp for the dots or if it's more like pointillism with a brush or marker? So long as you are using a solid stamp to add colour to your image I think that's fine, but it's meant to be a quick technique for adding colour to a line-art image.

Had fun with this Sabrina. I discovered the foam marshmallows that have been sitting in my drawer for years worked great for adding color. Back in the craze for Smore Christmas ornaments, I bought them. Never made the ornaments. But they sure helped with this card, Pretty Poinsettias. Thanks for the challenge!
