Default Photo Editing

Hello! Looking to see what photo editing program people are using and what works best for uploading cards. I was using the basic free "picmonkey" but now it is no longer free. I don't want anything complex or complicated...just the basic editing tools is what I'm looking for.
Thanks!

Picasa is free, simple, easy to use.

Thank you for this suggestion (Picasa). I have never heard of it before but will certainly check it out!

Picasa actually was the precursor to PicMonkey, and it's not supported any more.

GIMP is a great program for photo editing and watermarking, and it is a free download. It's a pretty powerful program, actually! I do have instructions somewhere for watermarking in GIMP too - if someone would like those, I will try to dig them up.

Basic watermark instructions for GIMP - which I've been using for heading on 18 years now. GIMP, not the instructions, which I sent someone a couple of years ago after making one for her.

"If you use GIMP, then you can easily create your own watermark any time you want. You just need to choose Create New - and then go into Advanced settings and make sure to choose Transparency as the background colour, and to save the finished file in PNG format.
Text is done with the text tool and accesses all the fonts you have in your computer.
Images are added with the brush tool."

PhotoShop brushes work in GIMP (.abr downloads), and there is a vast supply of those available fre with open licence, as well as some created specifically for GIMP.

I switched from Photoshop to GIMP when my husband changed my computer from Windows to Linux. I find GIMP to be fairly easy to learn and quite powerful. I do all my photo editing and preparing my cards for my (neglected) blog, and also for digital scrapbooking. It does it all - and for free!

If you have a Mac computer, I find the free iPhoto is enough for the basic editing I need to do.

Try this one you get a chance. This is what I like to use, when I can remember to use it.

I too used PicMonkey and needed another program jsut to add a watermark. I found BeFunky, thanks to a recommendation by Lydia, including some others, including Gimp. This website seems to be similar to PM and it is all I need for watermark. I also use Picasa for cropping and simple edits.

I have Photoshop Elements. I like the features it has for uploading artwork to Facebook, flickr and other places. I also have regular Photoshop, but I find PSE easier to use--probably because it was invented for regular people and not graphic designers. I've used both. Sometimes PS is better at some things than PSE.

My husband likes a program called IrfanView, which is free.
