Default Martha Stewart Crafts

I don't get out much so did not know that Michaels has quit carrying MS craft supplies. When did this happen? I had a coupon for MS crafts that was only good at Michaels. At our Michaels, it looks like they are cutting back on paper craft supplies period, same at AC Moore and Joann's has always been pitiful. But if you are into making jewelry or needlecrafts they all have you covered.

I think it's been 1.5-2 years? I took a box-making class at Michaels back then and remember the instructor saying they were eliminating the line.

As for Joann's, I think it partly depends on the store? One near me has a lot of paper crafting supplies, another not so much, though stamps are not as plentiful in either. I only visit a couple times a year but happened to go to the better one a few weeks ago.

Isn't it interesting how craft stores morph over the years, following the popular crafts of the time?

I remember when JoAnn's was 3/4 fabric and 1/4 crafts, now it's 2/3 crafts/home decor and 1/3 fabric. I really miss having a larger fabric selection. We have 2 or 3 fabric stores in the vicinity but I can't afford to pay $15 a yard for most fabrics as nice an unique as they are.

I remember getting a few MS products from Michael's. I got them all with a coupon though. then at some point, I seem to recall (I could be very wrong) that coupons could no longer be used for MS products which I'm sure hurt sales.

And honestly, I think her stint in jail or whatever hurt her brand in a significant way and over time her stuff started being pulled from the shelves.

I have emailed Martha Stewart Crafts three times without ever getting a response as to what and why they stopped making stamping/scrapbooking products :( Their embellishments were always my absolute favorite and I loved their punches. But there haven't been new designs in quite some time that I've noticed and embellishments are hard to come by. I know you can still buy punches everywhere and my joann has a few MS craft items, but they are old designs. It's a bummer for sure!!!

There is still a lot of Martha's products at Tuesday Morning. There were embellies, punches, papers, and more that right now I can't remember.

Oh! That's too bad about the coupon! sorry!

I saw some MS at a Blick art store. They seem to still have some online at least too.

I haven't seen Martha Stewart at either our Michaels or Joann for some time. It was marked down and then never restocked. I think Joann just changed the spelling of their store, at least online.

My Michaels and AC Moore both still have several aisles of papercrafting stuff. In Ms, it is literally the center square of the store. I thought they still had MS, but maybe I'm wrong. I don't usually look at her stuff. It is at the front of the store. For as long as I can remember, MS and Cricut have been excluded from the coupons. Drives me crazy that you can't use a coupon to buy an $8.99 tool by Cricut.
I have seen MS at Tuesday Morning, which made me think that somewhere must have discontinued it. Maybe they ship it all to a state where they think they can still sell it.

Martha Stewart was in jail for five months in 2005-6. Her crafts venture was her come back, and began after her release. Her time in jail for insider trading (which half of Wall Street could be jailed for) did not hurt her. Her paper craft products were manufactured by EK Success, which went out of business, and she apparently did not want to continue with another manufacturer.

Really? EK Success went out of business?! That surprises me, not that I follow the business end of the craft industry much. I'm an SU demo and I always thought that EK Success made our Paper Snips and our punches, but I guess not anymore!!

I was probably wrong! I read something about Inkadinkado and Martha Stewart going out of business, and mention was made about EKSuccess dissolving its brands.

I'm pretty sure EK Success is still in business. I can't find anything on the internet that says they have liquidated.

I know EK Success made some of her products like punches, etc. I don't see MS brand but I see EK Success at both our craft stores. A lot of MS craft stuff showed up at Tuesday Morning last year. Hasn't Martha moved on? She is doing that show with Snoop Dogg, blogging a lot, and still involved with the two MS magazines.

Maybe her jail time did not hurt her but it sure hurt her investors! Their money is gone forever!

I only bought 2 items from her since she was released from jail.

One punch the sticks and very hard to use and a queen size sheet set that started to unravel and seams came apart after 6 months.

No more for me.

I still use her scoring tool but with a stylus rather then the bone folder that came with it. Not sure they sell that anymore.

Went to MS website and it looks as if she has scaled back to various paints, stencils and related tools as the craft line. Goes directly to Michael's website. EK is now a brand under Simplicity and only has 39 'tools' listed.

I really like their punches, have a number of them. I did see some MS Halloween things at Mic's, but the packaging was a very simple black & white. I remember the MS cake stencils would go like crazy.

I really like Martha Stewart and her line. I purchased a nice set of favour boxes for my daughter's wedding and then "CASED" it, using her products. It was adorable. I have lots of her craft supplies. Sorry to see she's cutting back on her craft products. I agree with you Louisa May, I think she was framed and half of Wall Street could be in trouble if they were investigated. Is it because she was a successful woman? I think she handled the whole debacle with dignity and grace.

Martha Stewart's company problems are much more recent than her jail time, according to the NY Times here: https://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/23/b...mer-value.html. Her craft company success occurred after her prison time. The magazine and other product successes occurred before, but I thought we were talking about the craft business.

To me it really does not matter if we talk craft business about MS or not. As I mentioned I bought craft and non craft items from her. they either did not work correctly or fell apart. So therefore I am done buying products from her.

And regarding the investors that lost money from her "Mistake" I know personally. So IMO I am done buying from her. She can make her comeback on other people's money, not mine.
