Hello and welcome to the Mix-Ability challenge here on Splitcoast! Our goal is to make mixed media, easy, approachable and FUN!
Use your supplies to make any project (card, tag, journal page, etc.) with text or a focal image. Then use graphite, carbon pencil, Pitt pen, colored pencil, etc., to "pop" a shadow to make it appear 3-D. Use what you have!
This is what I started with:
Before I started shading, I made the surface non-porous using micro glaze. You can do the same thing using mod-podge, matte medium, and similar. Just make sure it's really dry before starting with markers or pencils.
I start with a thin line under the edge I want shadowed. I smudge it in with my finger or a tortillon. It's easy to correct mistakes because it's erasable over the sealer.
Then I keep building layers, sometimes with a marker, sometimes with pencil. I just keep going until I like it.
Before...
After.
