I'm looking forward to the new theme, more inspiration and motivation, since DTGD finished.

We are slogging through it. They get frozen goodies every day in the afternoon. Usually watermelon.

Ah, I imagine they love the watermelon. It must be hard in so much heat!

They do fine until we hit 100. Then it takes some extra TLC to keep them all healthy. I'm so ready for fall.

I don't. They are with Moms in a pen that doesn't have great light (because they are tarped for shade). They look like this guy from last year - some darker some lighter colored

These babies were all hatched outside. So much easier than when I have to raise them up.

Ah, how adorable! Yes, that makes sense about their hatching and then being outside.

Won't be long until I can put them out in the bigger pen. We have too many hawks around to let them roam.

Ducks are messy little boogers. Much more clean up than chicks. They make up for it in cute though.

Yes, they sure are adorable! Didn't realize they were messier than chickens. And hawks are a real problem. I know our son in NJ has had issues with foxes, etc. I think they lost at least one chicken. :(

I haven't seen a fox in years around here. We used to have a family of them down by the community mailboxes when we moved here 25 years ago.

Having an excuse to get outside (even in the heat) is a good thing. Get's me off my rear end a few times a day.

Oooh, maybe you don't have them! Same family as badgers, wolverines, otters, weasels. They go white in winter but keep the tiny black tip on their tail - they're said to be "in ermine" when they're in that state and it's where the name comes from for the white fur trim on ceremonial gowns.

Oh my, they are nasty things! I read they can eat a rabbit ten times its size! Eek!

Just googled! We call stoats weasels. I don't think we have them in TX (at least my part). Good thing because I understand that can be very destructive to a coop.

Also known as a short-tailed weasel native to North America and Eurasia!

They can - hang on, I'll find you some fantastic hunting footage! It's not just that they can eat one, it's that they can hunt and bring one down...
