TLC649 ~ Add a Pinch of Salt ~ {07/30/2017}
Hello and Welcome to another TLC Challenge.
The challenge I have for you this week is called
TLC649; Add a Pinch of Salt
There is a great video here in the Tutorials Sections about how to create a Salted Background
It is a fun technique to try out and to watch the salt lift the color leaving behind patterns in the ink.
For my card, I used my Distress inks applied direct to paper and a coarse sea salt.
You can also try using regular table salt for a more subtle effect.
Be sure and let the salt totally dry on your paper before removing it.
Helpful hint: It is easy to remove the salt using the flat end of an old credit card to scrap off the salt
Be sure to add the keyword to you card so it will be added to the gallery.
The TLC649 Gallery can be found here.
The card I created for the challenge is called
Jump for Joy
Looking forward to seeing all the lovely salted backgrounds.

Thanks, Karen! I'll try leaving the salt to dry before I head out for work so I may not be back till tomorrow ;-).

A great watercolor technique that translates so well to water-soluble inks. Thanks, Karen.

I'm glad I happened to see your challenge late last night so I could salt a piece and let it dry overnight (it took almost 10 hours) I only had table salt so I used it pretty generously as the crystals are SO small but I'm quite happy with the results!

Here's my card (a Christmas one as I find the salted background great for snowy cards!):

I had a stinker of a headache yesterday and didn't get anything done after work -so here I am today with this. It was fun to make - thank you for the challenge, Karen.
