I am DESPERATELY looking for some storage solutions for my ink pads. I have heard of people using cassette holders or racks. Can someone please tell me if those holders are good for the regular-size distress ink pads? The height of the pad is 3/4" which is the same as the height of each cubby (slot). I measured one of the pads and it is JUST below 3/4". Can you please let me know if the distress ink pads are a snug fit, or are there a few millimeters of juggle room? What I don't want to happen is I'm constantly pulling and putting the ink pads in and out of the slots and the labels get damaged. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. Good day...
I have two types of wooden cassette holders. The one that I know that name of, Napa Valley Box Co. is the one I use to house my distress inks. It is a tight fit, with no wiggle room but I have not noticed any damage to the labels. I have another, smaller wooden cassette holder that has wiggle room but there aren't enough slots to hold all my distress inks so I choose to go with the tight squeeze. Maybe someone else has a different experience?

Thanks so much for the reply. Organize More has the nice white ones but I feel I can find something cheaper. Www.kingdom.com has some cassette holders that have 100 slots and they are under $30; it's unfinished wood so buyers have the freedom to paint it any color they want. Good to know your labels were not damaged. I may go with the cassette holders. Thanks again!
I have one I found at Goodwill a few years back, and have it right next to my work space. Stored here are the inks I use the most-Memento black, Versamark, etc. Also put my re-inkers for those inks in a slot. It also fits my Distress inks. Love the one found on Kingdom.com. Great idea!
It depends... I have two of them one is from napa valley and it is slightly different than the other generic the wood is not marked one... the napa Valley branded one is too tight, you will pull the stickers off the tops of the pads if you shove one in the holes... but, the generic one I have is just a smidge looser and the oxide pads do fit into it.

Thank you for the reply. Do your distress inks fit pretty tight or snug in those cassette slots as the first person who posted? I like to get different opinions before I make that move. I will soon have a total of 84 distress ink pads, both regular and oxides (waiting for the new colors to arrive). I also have My Favorite Things, Ranger Archival, Memento, and VersaColor ink pads, so I have a LOT. Thanks again!
Thank you for that information. People have different experiences with these cassette holders but I wish there were more options besides Organize More and Stamp n' Store ink pad storage. Thanks again!

Yay photos! Thanks so much for showing me this! I have to admit, I'm a little hesitant but I think I will give these a try. Thank you thank you thank you!
They do fit pretty snug, but there are little "ridges" on the corners of the ink pad top that keep the labels protected. I do like the snugness of how they fit-will try to get a picture and send it along. As varied as the ink pad brands are, I have Versamark, Memento. Tim Holtz Distress, Staz-On, Rubber stampede, and Colorbox in it. These are the inks I use the most. My Stampin-Up inks are in those tall Stampin Up carousel towers (two of them found at yard sales-SCORE!, for about $10 each). Those sit across the room as to not take up "prime" real estate. They don't fit in the cassette holder-ink case is too tall. On an added note, I labeled the side of the ink pad that faces me, so there is no guess work about which pad I am choosing.
Is there a type of pad that does not fit in these holders? I have a lot of misc pads and need an organizer that will hold everything.
Have most of the ink pads auntieof8 mentioned in mine, along with the Brilliance ones and Memento Lux. The ColorBox chalk ones won't fit and the Hero Arts shadow inks won't fit in mine. If you happen to get one with a bit more space, the HA ones might fit. Seeing as I had enough of the other ink pads that do fit to fill them up, I set the few ColorBox ink pads I have on top of the holder and the HA ink pads in another place. I have my older Stampin Up pads in one, fit in the long way - they hang out quiet a bit, but it's doable for me. You can see the SU pads next to the Distress Inks in MrsClark's bottom picture. My holders were found at a Goodwill store.
Another question... Does anyone store this flat as opposed to hanging or sitting on desktop? I'd really like to put this in a drawer for my retired inks and rarely used inks. I know in the past it was said to not store inks this way. Jennifer McGuire stores some this way and said the manufacturers say it is not an issue. Just curious to hear what others have to say.
I use on old sizzix storage rack for my inks. I had hubby put small pieces of laminate between the plastic holders to make little shelves. We bought it from a school auction years ago. The sizzix large thick dies slid in. My colorbox chalk inks fit in it. I have an old cassette holder but found that my colorbox did not fit. I am needing more room and am considering just making one of these (Embellish My World: Building your own ink pad storage unit.) to set on top of the holder I have. I have my holder hung on the wall.
I saw in a blog post where someone was using these racks for distress ink storage. I bought them and hate it. The pads hang at a slant and it's not easy to pull them out. Waste of $$ https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I just checked my cassette tape boxes...and nothing fits in it! :( I am so bummed. I have 2 and they probably would have handled all my inks.
I will need to try to find something else. I too have a variety of ink pads. I cant afford the stamp and storage ones unfortunately because I love the holes for the reinkers.
I have a cassette tape holder from the thrift store. I do have my Ranger inks in it. It is a tight fit but no damage to cases. I like the tight fit because Tim's lids are so loose on his ink pads. I noticed the Distress Oxides fit even tighter.
I might be changing up the cassette rack. I would like to go to the spinning carousel from Stampin Up for my inks.
If it is ok that I add on? Does anyone have any resources for spinning racks for our SU inks or even Distress Inks that is not Stampin Up? I am looking at the kind I can put my reinkers in.
I love the one sandye1957 found but at 48 I would need several and I dont have the surface space :( Too bad they dont make a spinning tower like that! Have the refills in a pull out drawer every 48...
I can keep all of my inks in the cassette holder EXCEPT the old paisley style PTI inks. I have quite a few of those and they just stack on my desk because I can't figure out how/where to store them otherwise.

I have all my current Stampin' Up! inks (plus some others) in a cassette rack on my wall. For me, this is the perfect storage. However, the new style pads are not a tight enough fit and are going to be falling out unless I modify the rack in some way.
Is anyone else facing this and have you found a solution?
I have three cassette cases mounted to the wall and never have damage to the labels. I even have blending sponges velcroed to the bottom of each pad. They hold 70, 100, and 64 pads. Lots of room to grow because I couldn't bare to part with any of them once I found them. Keep the measurements in your handbag along with a measuring tape to test cases you come across at garage sales and thrift stores.
