Alphabet Challenge ~ Round 7 ~ Feb. 8 through Aug. 2, 2017
Welcome to round 7 of the weekly Alphabet challenges!!
I am Ann aka annsforte3 and I will be your guest hostess for this round of the Alphabet Challenges. Dani aka DellsDani, the founder of the Alphabet challenge will be stopping in when she can during the weeks ahead.
This round we will be starting at the end of the alphabet and work our way down each week.
How it works: make a card or a project using the letter of the week as your inspiration. You must have at least one item that starts with that week’s letter on your card. Your letter of the week may be a technique, image, or the actual letter itself!! Surprise us!!
Yes, there are double challenges for each week! They are already listed on each post for your convenience. Doing the double challenge is not a requirement, it's just added inspiration.
We will begin the challenges on February 8th and end on August 2nd.
Our challenges will be listed in a separate thread for ease of viewing. Please post your cards to that thread, using the proper keyword for that week, and please do not post your card for that week’s challenge until the corresponding date arrives.
The Alphabet Challenges and Posting thread will only be for posting your cards and not for chatter. Please use this thread for all conversations and questions. I am hoping that the streamlining of the posts will help all have an enjoyable time doing the Alphabet Challenges!!
Remember the goal of the Alphabet challenge, along with that of Splitcoaststampers, is to have fun and make cards!! There are no challenge police!!
Hoping you have fun working on the weekly challenges, SCS has lots of inspiration and help if you need it under the "tutorials section" on the home page.
Hi Everyone!!! *waves* A fresh, new thread... ahhhh, feels good.
Kathy, those cards you posted are beautiful. I love the one with the boat under the tree. My brother has a b'day coming up soon... and it made me think of him. I have NO masculine type stamps I don't think. I'll have to be creative. I still haven't looked up Bundle of Love... I guess I need to. Oh, I wanna be next in line for the duck!! He's so cute. Where did it come from?
Pat, so sorry to hear you are tired. I hate days like that. I hope you have a nice relaxing day. *hugs*
Hi there Hawaii! It is SO nice to see you popping in more!
Ann, you did a wonderful job on the thread with all the challenges... I didn't know you were going to post them all at once!!! I thought you were just going to go back and edit the post. And you even got all the double challenges worked out... you've been busy!!! Right off the bat, what is Zentangle? I know I can google it, and I probably will... but I saw that and panicked.
Is anyone else sad to be leaving the old thread? Maybe it's just me because that round was my first round with all of you wonderful ladies. Is that dumb? lol
Sealed with Love.. is cute.. but Idk how much I'd really use it apart from Valentine's Day... but the sample cards on SU website are sure cute! I bet you guys will have lots of fun with it. I really like the heart border die... looks cool!
Aww, Kathy, do you not like the duck? I didn't know your sister lived near you.

Sister lives next door, mom and dad up behind me....I have another sister and one brother, both within fifteen minutes! I don't mind the duck really. But he sure quacks a lot. Quack quack quack quack!
Ohhhh... why can't they just call it doodling... Oi. lol I love to doodle. I will see what I can come up with. Thanks for the explanation.
What does the DD stand for in our key words? I've always wondered that and never remembered to ask. lol
Awww, I'd love to hear the quacking... does he have a name? We've talked about adding ducks to our bird collection... (chickens). But I've heard they are so messy. Idk. We'll see. We also have considered raising some for meat... but I've never eaten duck. I'd have to try it before we did that. That's so nice that you have all of your family nearby. I have a sister right next door too. And a brother 2 minutes up the hill.
Ohhhh! That makes sense! lol I'd never have thought of that I don't think... cool.
Ok, I just looked up zentangle. It is doodling but with different patterns.. not exactly what I was thinking... it's a good think I looked. I'd have done it wrong if I'd have done my type of doodling... hehe
Jennifer, duck meat is amazing. I never had it till my MIL made it when my DH and I were just dating.
She made it just like a chicken, cutting it apart, taking most of the fat off, and roasting it in a roasting pan, with onions and celery between the pieces. Of course seasoned to taste too!!
Quick question - if, and I do say if! I get a fairy card made, should I post the link to it here or the previous thread since the fairy card goes with that round? Just curious.
I thought long and hard about not posting the double challenge till that week. But then I thought who would do the double challenge? I would probably not, I like to work ahead, especially if I am going to have a busy week.
With all the challenges posted you can think about it early in your card planning!
Ann, I've heard it's greasy... but I suppose it would depend on how you make it. And duck is expensive!!! If you get it in a restaurant... which I do not understand. It shouldn't cost any more than chicken. It's not like ducks are rare or anything.
Catherine, I'd say yes, post it in the other thread, but that's just an opinion... then again, no one will see it.... so Idk.
Ann, that was another question I had.. since we aren't chatting on the other thread, do we post our cards on both threads? Idk. Having 2 threads might be confusing... for me.. anyway. hahaha!
Post all cards to the other thread. I thought I would post a link to that thread ever so often.
Or anyone else who has there card made early on Wednesday post a link in the chat thread.
I think we will get used to it. The best thing is to bookmark the thread on your computer. Easy to get back to then.
Jennifer - greasy NO not the way my MIL made it. She spent so much time cutting it up, removing all the fat from the underside of the skin, even if she had to cut the skin off and stick it back on with a toothpick.
I'm sure you're right Ann. We'll get used to it. Sometimes change is hard though. lol I just don't want anyone's cards getting passed over because I don't think to go to the other thread to look through the links.. you know?
Well, we may just have to try us a duck... My daughter has ducks.. and I think she just said she has a couple that need culled.
Kathy, you are a regular SU customer... what is the normal length of time for them to deliver your order? I'm excited!
Thanks Ann for all of the work and time you have put in to take over hosting the challenge. Well done my friend!
Jennifer, orders usually take about a week to arrive. Did you get an email telling you they had shipped? I am in Canada so it is about a week, but maybe you in the states will get your orders faster?
Shirl's right. A little over a week. My demo puts our order in Saturday night or Sunday and we usually have it by Monday or Tuesday of the following week.
Holy cow, a new thread and everyone is already chatting up a storm!!!! Way to go, girls! I'm trying to upload a tag for the FS challenge and the old problem seems to be back again. I'll wait a few and make another attempt.
I'm going to see if I can find our challenge thread!
