Default TLC639 ~ Smack Down Technique ~ {05/22/2017}

Good morning, everybody! Happy Monday to you all.
This week I am bringing you a technique which I had never tried before myself. I noticed someone asking about it some time last year in the Techniques section of the forum, and Lydia provided a link to a tutorial (not hers) which she had used. So, let's try the Smack Down technique - a quick and easy way of creating backgrounds.

This is what the technique involves:
Ink your chosen stamp in a light colour. Stamp on the paper, and then continue stamping all round it, as if you were stamping off prior to cleaning your stamp.
When there's no ink left, ink the stamp and repeat the process. Cover as much of the card as you like. The repeated stamping fills up the card quite quickly.
Switch up to a different colour - if it's very dark, you may need to stamp it off once on scratch paper. Repeat the process. The repeated stamping fills up the card quite quickly.
Optional extra is to sponge colour on the base in between your stamping, if there's much blank space left.
It's like a multiple-repeat of shadow stamping, and creates beautiful backgrounds, so I hope you will have fun trying this out.

Here are a few step-out pictures of one of my samples.

Here's the video Lydia linked to, by Tina Weller. She starts with measurements for the card demonstrated, the actual technique demonstration starts at about 2 1/2 minutes into the video. There are other videos out there too if you want to find an alternative...

Here's a link to our TLC639 Smack Down Technique gallery

Here's my card: TLC639 Fear Not

 Remember to use the keyword TLC639 when you are uploading. It's helpful (to the hostesses for sure!) if you come back and leave a link on this thread .

If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:

1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE. by

I've done this with my Dahlia stamp so I'll try and find another stamp to use. Its fun and makes a pretty background!

CAS430 -Kellijo - my memories was finding a frog in a hole at the lake in Big Bear, CA when I was little. I had that little fella with me all weekend long - when it was time to go home, I had my frog sitting next to me in the car. My Dad told my Mom to tell me to get rid of the frog, he wasn't driving with a frog in the car! I ended up taking him down the road to an elderly man's house who had a HUGE frog! What a memory!

TLC639 - Sabrina I used a decorative stamp for my background and repeatedly stamped it all over the card. Great challenge!!

I have done something like this in the past, but never knew the technique had a name. Thanks, for the education. I used a large BG stamp to start with. It was fun!

With all the extra stamping my camera did not want to focus very well. Sorry for the quality of the photo. I re-took them twice, but it just did not help.

Brand new technique for me. Stamping over 25 years and thought I had seen it all. ;) So here's my two: Beautiful Day and Peachy Keen.

Thanks for a really fun technique.

When I made my last card, I had made several backgrounds. This one was one I didn't think I could use, but after a day or so, decided I could make it a baby card.
