I never actually agreed with that old expression: "Sticks and stones will break your bones, but words will never hurt you." I personally believe that words are very powerful and can hurt, but more importantly can also heal. Card makers are very aware of how the "words" within their card designs can be encouraging, motivating, inspiring, and very uplifting to any lucky recipient. With that in mind, let's spend this inspiration challenge week being inspired by our own "sentiment stamps" in order to design something special to send out to a friend or relative (Side Tip: Please don't hesitate to put fun sentiments on your envelopes too).
Since there is no inspiration site this week (because your inspiration images are your very own sentiment stamps), some of you may find it harder to determine an approach.... so here's three (3) ideas to help you:
1. YOUR OWN SENTIMENTS - Pick any sentiment from your collection (how about trying to find one that you have not used this year yet), then give that sentiment some love on a new card design - combining old with new stamps!
2. SENTIMENT BACKDROP TECHNIQUE VIDEO - Get some inspiration from Jennifer McGuire's beautiful and easy to follow video below which showcases the "Sentiment Backdrop"technique! It's a really fun technique that's especially easy to do with the MISTI.
3. HAND PENNED EXPRESSIONS- For those of you that enjoy modern calligraphy, feel free to hand pen your own healing words as well! Remember to try to use your hand penned words as the focal point on your designs this week.
Lastly, no matter which approach you'd like to take, please tell us why you picked the sentiment you selected in your upload description, (If it has special meaning to you, we'd love to hear why!), and let us know who will be receiving your inspired design!
Challenge Goals:
Please don't be tempted to upload a card that you have made prior to this challenge, just because it has a sentiment focus. Rather, take the challenge of allowing your creative juices to flow again, and creating something brand new for the gallery!
Use the keyword: IC595 (no spaces or extra characters) when you upload your card, and make sure you put commas between your key words. Please tell us why you picked the sentiment you selected in your upload description, (If it has special meaning to you, we'd love to hear why!), and let us know who will be receiving your inspired design!
For those of you who say you get overwhelmed with having too many, or too little, images to choose from, I've uploaded 10 of my favorite designs! So just stick with one (or all) of those for your inspiration. Click on the images below to see them bigger and to get their links on SCS.
How to Play ~ View the attached images. You may be inspired to recreate the pieces ~ but that isn't necessary ... get your inspiration from the colors, layout, style or 'theme'. Just enjoy wherever your inspired creative journey takes you. Remember, if you are inspired by the creation of another artist, please do not use print-outs of the art in your creation or directly copy their work. Make the inspiration piece your own. Don't worry ~ no card is 'wrong' and there is no time limit for uploading your card for the challenge. There are no rules, so let your creative juices run wild ~ be *inspired* and go get stamping!
Don't forget about No Upload Sunday - Let's give the gallery moderators a day off and not upload on Sunday (unless, of course, you are a Fan Club member - yet another reason to spend a little money on your favorite site). Also, remember to link to your SCS gallery on this thread. Thank you for joining me on this inspiration journey.

Lifting you up in prayer, Audrie! What a wonderful challenge today....an awesome new technique to try, plus a chance to say thank you to one of the elders in my Bible study group who I love dearly:

Audrie, this is a wonderful challenge, and I am inspired by you posting a challenge even when you are in pain! It is so fun to see all the cards in today's gallery. Thank you : )
Did a direct to paper background for my "grungy" panel with my "hey dude" greeting- and added a hand written sentiment on top. Used a vintage leapfrog set and lilypad stamping wheel- both from SU. Added a dc pine bough for texture, and a few yellow flowers for fun. Finished with some brads, and a double twine bow. Here's Road Trip

Here's my card using a sentiment stamp I've not used until today along with a stamp I've used a few times but differently today to create a watercolored background:
It's so cool when you have friends whose paths cross again with your own- this time, through our DD's graduations from the same college. We actually will be in Bozeman and I thought this card was just right- made with SU's Girlfriends and Lexicon of Love- and accented with images from Lawn Fawn's Smart Cookie set. Here's Congrats Amy

Audrie, you are amazing, stamping and creating from your bed! I do hope your days are getting better and your healing is on par or ahead of schedule. Hugs!
Thank you for this timely challenge, as a colleague is in need of some encouraging words and I so enjoyed putting this together for her. Wishing You Brighter Days

I have so many great sentiment stamps that it was hard to choose but I went with one I bought recently that is perfect for a very close friend. Here's the card:
