Default PAPER TRIMMER

Hi all. I was just hoping to get some feedback about paper trimmers.I have had 2 of SU's Paper Trimmers now and both have the same problem. The track that the blade sits in becomes tight and I have to push the blade very hard to get it to move, often destroying the paper in the process. I love that I can keep both the blade and the scorer in the track at the same time and the blade itself seems to stay sharp for quite a long time. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, does SU make it right a second time? They did replace the first one but I am not sure if the problem is with the cutter or with something I am doing wrong.
I also recently purchased one of the bigger Fiskars cutters, as it appeared to have the capability of keeping both blade and scorer in the track at the same time. However, you cannot cut or score a full 12 inch piece of paper and the blades don't stay sharp as long as one would expect.
Any thought or advise is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Veronica

Default This hasn't happen to me

but have you taken the blades off and looked at the track to make sure it's clean and smooth? Also how does the cutting mat look.

I have taken the blade out and the track appears to be fine but it feels like the blade is rubbing against it as I push/pull it. There is no visible sign of anything being wrong with the track. The cutting mat is good also. Member is my monthly club have looked at it and used it and all agree there is something wrong but no one else has had this experience.

Try picking the mat up and turning it around so that the top is now at the bottom. You can also roll it over and use the other side. I had one mat track that was a bit tighter on one side than it was on the other.

Also clean your track by taking a baby wipe and putting a flat knife blade inside and running it down the track. Fuzzies gather in there and makes cutting a bit fuzzy.

When my trimmer gets sticky I polish my ruler guide with Novus polish and glides perfectly.

There is a current thread about trimmers in General Stamping Talk.
I've never used an SU trimmer so I can't address your problem, but I have a large Fiskars trimmer which handles 12" paper. Please see the other thread.

My thought is that the paper fuzzies are accumulating in the track so cleaning it out as suggested should help as should flipping it around and/or over.

The rotary addition is on the Clearance Rack. It might be worth adding one of those to your stash.
