LSC59C - Back to Basic(s)
Title: Back to Basic(s)
I recently noticed a card in the gallery that used only black for the ink. It was a great card and it got me thinking back to when I first started stamping. I didnt have many colors of ink yet, so black was a staple for me.
Your challenge is to create a card using only black ink, no other colors of ink, to create a card. Black and white only cards dont count on this challenge. Try to be colorful in ways that dont involve your ink pads (and its not fair to use your markers to color on the stamps). You can use markers, pencils, chalks for coloring in stamped images, but no colored ink pads/blender pen for coloring.
Keyword: LSC59C
Limit: Use only black ink, but no just black/white cards.
Stamps: Any
Cardstock: Any
Ink: Black ink only
Embellishments: Any
Technique: Any that dont involve ink beyond black
Remember this is Virtual Stamping Holiday 2 and there will be no prizes or honorable mentions. We're just in it for the fun of it. There is no time limit.
They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us stamping!
If you need help with uploading your card to the gallery or posting a link, click here!

Please put LSC59C in the keyword box when uploading!
Here are some great gallery samples:
Sullypup Sympathy Card
deeth1 Teen Boy Western Style
Jami VSNX Masked Harvest
KeriLou Showers of Love
bfisher Chicken Soup
Here are my two cards:
The Doorway
Joyful Birthday Wishes
I see from the 59B thread that Jen70 has already posted her creation for this challenge, too. Here's a link to hers: LSC59C Rejoice. A special EXTRA-BIG thanks to Jen for organizing this awesome day of challenges!

The smiley is from www.cosgan.de.
Barbara- I know what you mean about the backgrounds! When I was making my sample I just about picked up a background stamp to do a tone-on-tone type background & had to stop myself!

This one is a little bit of a cheat. I already had it made, but never have posted it. I used some old crayon backgrounds I had in my stash. It also uses Silver and Black EP. You didn't say we couldn't use EP, but I am thinking it is not allowed....It IS a good use of black ink, though.

Here is my take on basic. I used my water color crayons to color the pic. I then made a puddle and dipped the sponge into it to add color to the circles. So here it is.
BUTTERFLY
Thanks for looking.

It was fun. I used to do stuff like this all the time when I was a kid, only I would layer different images I cut out of magazines. Thanks for the challenge, Beth.

Well I worked on the first one for the majority of this time...I do not like watercoloring with Aqua Pen and we were not to use Blender pens...I just could not get into the tiny spaces I was attempting with the AQ...so finally tossed it and started over with a simpler stamp design and was able to get it to look at least OK. I'm sorry Barb. I don't mind if you use a blender pen with the watercolors crayons/pencils. I just didn't want coloring-in using the blender pen with different color ink pads. I wanted to simulate the days of only having a black ink pad. But using the blender pen with anything except ink pads is fine. Sorry again for the miscommunication. I think the card you posted turned out beautifully!

This was a great push to get out my WC pencils. Wish I had thought to use mycrayons as there are so many more colors to choose from. Duh!! I had fun and appreciate the push to get back to basics.

Hey Beth...don't worry about it...I really should practice more with the AQ pen, so this forced me to do that, even if it was my misunderstanding. I still enjoyed working with the challenge and I love all the different style cards that we are seeing here.

Ok, I couldn't decide which challenge to do first, so I combined two of them and came up with this card using an image from junk mail and only black ink:
