I am debating about replacing my old SU ink pads with new ones. I have about half of my collection in the old linen style and half in the new foam and because they stamp so differently, I want uniformity. But, after reading all of the raves about using minis with their Mistis, I wonder if buying the unlinked SU mini pads would be a better option. I stamp only with my Misti because I am a terrible stamper. I rock my stamps or miss areas on the stamp and the Misti honestly reignited my love for stamping. Has anyone tried the new unlinked SU minis to see how well they hold the ink without drying up. Would anyone opt for buying the new SU full size inks over the minis?
I have the minis and they seem to work well, with and without my Misti. But for larger stamps I prefer the larger ink pads. I would suggest keeping large pads for most used inks. I'm just buying the minis for in colors
I have used the new uninked minis. They are linen ink pads and if the strings start to unravel and get out from under the lid, it makes the ink in the pad go dry. They are great for use with the MiniMisti, but if you don't like the linen pads because they go dry, they might not be for you.
Thanks so much. Sounds like the vast majority votes minis. I will hold on to my full size though for background stamps. Are the Tim Holtz tins the best thing to store them in? Are they airtight or something, keeping your minis moist linger?

I love the Tim Holtz tins, simply because they keep all my ink minis together. If you close each ink spot properly, they shouldn't dry out too soon. You may need to ink them more often though if you use them a lot on large surface areas of stamp.
If you have an old large clamshell box, they hold the minis perfectly!
I would remind you that you'll really need the re-inkers if you go the mini route. I don't like them that well bc they do dry out quickly, but I get them as part of my Paper Pumkin kits. I use them for travel.
I have always used spots instead of full size pads. Either an old clamshell or the new wood mount cases work great. I store them upside down to keep the ink at the top of the pads. I do have all of the reinkers, but I don't have to use them very often.
Thank you everyone for your feedback. I deleted all of the full size SU ink pads from my order that were only going to replace the old felt version and added 8 packs of 5 of the spots. I am excited about using them with my MISTI and for travel purposes!!!
I didn't account for my many collections of In Colors, just the main groups so I will probably need more as well. Instead of inking them all when I get them, I will ink one when I use that color. I may find out there are colors I use once in a Blue Moon that would be a waste to ink a spot for and just use my full size stamps for those.
I haven't used the Misti yet, but am just getting ready to order one... I'm wondering if when you do use the large ink pads to stamp small images.... does ink get on the misti around the stamp that you will then have to wipe off? Or does it just cover the stamp? I don't have mini ink pads and won't buy them unless I need to. Thanks for your advice!
When I use my full-size pads with my MISTI, I get ink on the MISTI but it easily wipes off with a baby wipe (I wipe it off within a few minutes). The minis are easier to use with a MISTI but I don't want an extra set of inkpads (even small ones) lying around and wiping off the ink does not bother me.

I could have written this message. This is exactly how I handle the excess ink on the MISTI.
