I feeling a creative surge of energy as I listen to my latest playlist. While paint dries on my project I'll pop over the computer ...then back to the project... I'm just going with the flow and having fun in the zone...
I've always loved making things, sewing, crocheting, cardmaking. So my creativity is usually humming in the background even when I'm busy doing other stuff that we need to do each day.
Since I retired, I have time to indulge most of my creative urges, which are always there waiting. I love it!

I have youtube going while I craft, sometimes I stop and watch for a bit but I like it going on in the background.
I do that too...in fact it's running on my desktop, full screen sound muted while I'm working on laptop with itunes playing in the background.
I listen to audible books as well, mostly motivational/self development especially at work, lol...
Music on my Laptop, genre depends on the season. Minimize screen. Pinterest on my card ideas board. If I am lucky, I have cinnamon hearts on my desk I do like to munch on those while I craft.
It's been a stop and start for me for the past year, but I've begun to feel the creativity returning more frequently now. My inspiration is actually need...when I run out of cards to give or send, or when my daughter needs more cards for her stash. And beyond that I do the same as several others have posted...watching YouTube or have Pinterest up on my computer. And buying supplies...I just recently ordered stamps and new inks from a few different places. And those will be my final purchases for the year. Made two cards today with the new stuff!
Finding any moment that is not occupied by work or life things (like cleaning and laundry). I have way more ideas and inspiration than I have time, so my biggest motivator is finding a chunk of quiet time to get crafty in.
For me, it seems to be when I get something new, that's when I sit myself down and want to make something using it. It might not actually be a new things, but it's new to me. I want to see what it looks like when I actually stamp with it or color with it or mix colors with it.
And also for me, I like it quiet. I hear DH's TV in the background so there is a little background noise but when I'm thinking, I like to just hear the voices in my head and that's all!> LOL! ;)

I like specific holidays that get me going, like Christmas, Valentines, Birthdays. And if I get something new to me too. If I have a friend that is in want or need of encouragement, and just like most too, encouragement goes a long way for me! ;) Not having housework to do helps... so I try to get it all done first! LOL For me, I feel guilty if I sit to create when I have all that work to be done! I like lists of things to be done so I can keep track of when I get to play! ;)

I also find my two main motivators are needing a card, or having new goodies to play with
new things for sure, cannot wait to try them out, but a biggie is cleaning up my stamp room, then the urge to create hits until I work myself back into a little square area of somewhat tidy surrounded by chaos! ;) No music/computer, just TV background noise in the other room. New stuff is coming, time to clean!
Challenges motivate me! I do lots of the SCS challenges and quite a few blog challenges, especially Christmas ones as they motivate me to get my Christmas cards made well before December.
And another vote from me for audiobooks - if I'm in the middle of listening to a good novel, I'll want to continue with it and then I'll craft at the same time.

My creative spells come when trying to clean my desk!!! Must be my brain wanting to do anything but clean!!!
I agree, Sharon - this happens to me all the time. And right now I'm trying to reorganize my craft room but seem to get inspired to create rather than organize!

My muse and creative juices are all stirred up now!
I'm exploring the world of gelli printing. I ordered a 6x6 plate the other morning, but I had to run out at lunch time to Blick Art store and pick up a 8x10 plate.
I'll put it to the test this evening... 5pm can't get here soon enough

You know, that might be a topic that should be explored on here! I've heard over & over about the Gelli Plates, but don't know how to use them! I've seen someone use a brayer & slap paper over it, etc., but do you need anything else? Is there a machine to go with it? LOL Just a thought! HOPE you have FUN tonight!!!! ;)

Save
Look at Carolyn Dube, FrugalCrafter and many other videos on Youtube...
They have truly inspired me.
THANK YOU DINA!
I will look at that too! I did look at the You Tube Video that Bohodiva suggested..... I THINK I'm getting hooked! LOL I'm thinking of making my own Gelli Plate from those video's! Can't wait to view Lydia's video too! ;) THANK YOU DINA!!!
Dina!
I JUST watched Lydia's Video! WOW!! SO MANY TIPS on using the Gelli Plate! Things that weren't on the other sites! AND OF COURSE, Lydia WOW'ed me with her work too! LOL GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;) THANK YOU AGAIN!!!
What spools me into creative spells is one of two things: viewing an ultra-inspiring Pinterest board or gallery, or touching the things in my craft studio. Flipping through my stamp index triggers a lot of ideas - ditto with touching the pretty papers. Sometimes I'll hear a phrase that sparks an idea for a card, too.
Regardless of the catalyst, I'm a "quiet crafter" - I like to be alone with my thoughts. Too much "chatter" creates clutter in my head and I can't concentrate on what I'm doing. That's why if/when I go to a gathering of stampers, it's purely for the social aspect - I know I won't accomplish much, lol...
THANK YOU Bohodiva!
I'll check out those sites you've given me! ;) Show us what you create???? ;)
And Patti Tolley Parrish is the queen of gelli plating, if you want to really take them to the next and next level: gradients, patinas, Art Foamies, stencils, shipping tape, layers... lol
This one is very basic and short about stencils; some of hers last more than an hour, but she's a hoot. She also has a wonderful story about being a cancer survivor, and how she met her husband, another survivor. (She met him when she was bald from chemo on a blind date.) https://m.
She has many videos about polymer clay and journaling so can move past those. She has live demos on Ustream and has organized an artists' weekend in the summer for the last couple of years. I had hoped to go to the last one but couldn't.
LOL I think these things that pop up like this ARE INSPIRING! It just shows the love of this craft! There are SO MANY WAYS TO PLAY & things that INSPIRE!!! ;) Thank you for the new thread on Gelli Plates! ;)
I have needed to create from a very very young age and originally I painted using oils then when the children were small that changed to cooking and sewing, while I was working there was little time for creativity and I was very unhappy. Now that I'm retired it has really ramped up and I resent having to go off in the caravan or on holidays with DH but I have to be fair about it. :(I save pines from many different sources then use the boards as reference as well as following a number of blogs etc.
I like piece and quite when I'm creating but sometimes have the radio on.
I like to read the challenge criteria and then think about it for a while, however the idea that I start with usually morphs onto something entirely different
