I am a huge fan of Amy R. (Prarie Paper and ink). Lately she has used a lot of Perfect Pearls ( mostly the plain white or metallics) on her cards. Unless I missed some thing, it appeared she just brushed the powder on after stamping and then wiped it off gently. She said you didn't need to do anything to stabilize it. So of course I had to order some of the metallics. The problem is that when I went on you tube to watch tutorials I saw all kinds of conflicting or new information. For instance they talked about using something called Perfect Medium which I didn't see Amy use at all. In a video by Jennifer M. She said you have to set it with a fine mist of water. I'm so confused and sorry I ordered it now. Can anyone give me the down and dirty on this stuff?
I just watched this...amazing video! Thanx for posting!
I just bought some of those new embossing folders last night with JoAnn's free shipping...woot woot!!
Good deal - I hope you post how it goes for you! I made a card and a pop-up gift card holder using Perfect Pearls - no embossing folders for those, just a subtle metallic gleam over the inked colors. : )
I usually give mine a fine mist because I do think it tends to rub off a bit, and that is what Ranger recommended when I first got them... But I don't use the Perfect Medium - if I do want to apply them over a stamped design I just use my regular Versamark, I find it stamps a lot better.
RNRuns60, the person you quote in your answer tells it the way I would. You just have to be careful choosing which stamp and plan a way to keep the colors separated if you use more than one color because when you wipe away the powder, it will stick to wherever you might have stamped with Versamark. I Stamp, sprinkle the powder, then flick the excess away gently with Kleenex at first and then when I'm sure it's dry, rub it with the kleenex. I often do nothing more to the card and haven't noticed the color diminishing. But when i learned to do it years ago, the recommend was to spray the card with cheap hair spray as a fixitive. I also bought Fixitif, that's in a can like hair spray but you have to do it outside because it is a petroleum product and smells like it. Really I don't think you need to fix it.
I haven't used PP in a long time but just bought a jar of gold (one of the thd prettiest gold powders I've ever seen!). I might try using if with MicroGlaze (one of the suggestions from MaryJo McGraw):
