And On That Farm She Had a.....Donkey?
Note: Anyone is welcome to play! You automatically become a Teapotter the first time you play in our challenge. Also, you do not have to write a story. The Rest of the Story:
1: Oh the wonderful life on the farm. It's so peaceful out here and Lil' Red couldn't wait to get all settled in and start getting barns built and pastures fenced so that she could start feeling like a real farmer. She had the land, she had the house, and one slightly old donkey. She really needed more animals, good barns, and she really wanted to widen a spot in that creek and make a pond. That would just be the perfect cooling off spot after a hot day.
2: All of this is just dreams for now until she gets the well dug and the barn built but she can't help but think about how lively things will be around here when she has cows grazing, roosters crowing and hens laying. And then there's all the little critters that will come around too. Oh, how she longs for that day. Lil' Red has a habit of also talking to herself or to Jebidiah the donkey since there isn't anyone else around. So anyone driving by might think that she's a little off the crock so to speak if they see her out in the field talking to an old donkey.
3: But Jebidiah has been with Lil' Red all her life as she inherited him from her Granny Ol' Red who bought Jebidiah shortly after he was born. And Jebidiah is used to just listening and even occasionally brays a response. Well, what the folk around don't know, is that Jebidiah really is in the know and has numerous connections with various not-well known sources and he is determined to make Lil' Red happy and her dreams come true a little quicker.
4: One night late, Lil' Red heard Jebidiah braying but when she looked out the window, she didn't see anything so just went back to bed. In the morning when she started on her daily rounds of the field to forage some greens for dinner she noticed several rabbits hopping away from her approach, a startled covey of quail and even an old barn cat chasing some field mice. Oh how nice, she thought, finally some life around here other than ol' Jeb and me. Going on about her business she didn't think any more about it at the time. However, the next morning she noticed that now some ducks had moved up from the creek and had a nest, and further on she spotted a couple hens scratching for bugs down near the creek. "What on earth is going on here?" she knew she hadn't missed seeing any of these things in past days. And ol' Jebidiah just brayed and walked peacefully along behind her.
Challenge Translation:
Peaceful pastoral scenes to soothe and some critters to bring a smile are all welcome this week.
