You're currently viewing Splitcoaststampers as a GUEST. We pride ourselves on being great hosts, but guests have limited access to some of our incredible artwork, our lively forums and other super cool features of the site! You can join our incredible papercrafting community at NO COST. So what are you waiting for?
How many times have you started your day with, ‘today is______ ‘s birthday. I wish I’d remembered to send a card.’ Or are you scrambling last minute to ‘just get one made’?
With the All Occasion Card Challenge, you can put all that behind you!
Each month… around the 20th, we’ll remind you to look at your card recipient list for the coming month.
WHO: Everyone that needs cards for b-days, anniversaries, get well....you know-anything.
WHAT: A way to get those card needs met ahead of time so you aren't scrambling at midnight to finish before next days event...(yeah, I know I've seen you there with me) There is no score keeping here!
It's all for you and helping you stay motivated. Just look ahead to coming month and see what you need. then challenge yourself to get them done using our challenges or not. some months you may need 10 b-day cards and the next month none. whatever you need for coming month is what you do. For instance; some months I don't have any events and plan to do cards for the stash that I have trouble making at last minute like get well and sympathy cards.
WHY:To relieve stress! This way you’ll have cards for all your events made ahead!! We all know how busy life can be, so why not try to get your cards all done by the end of current month instead of night before! Remember, the whole idea behind this challenge is to make your life easier. we can all use that, right?
WHERE: First upload to your gallery then post a link in the designated thread. Please use the KEYWORD listed in the first post of each month (You'll find a link to those threads in Post #2) so that others can search for your cards! Please use only the thread that I start for each month or you might be missed, and we want y'all to get plenty of lovin for being such good overachievers.
To attach a link here, when the page you want us to go see is open, go to the address bar and 'copy the whole thing' then go to where you want it seen and paste it in the post box. If you need instructions for this check the attached PDF file drawn up by Vikki or PM me for further assistance.
WHEN: The whole month! There is no 'deadline' for getting your monthly cards done. This is just a motivational challenge to help you!
HOW: Just post a reply to this thread saying that you want to join and then start creating! Make your cards any way you like. Any tools, toys, gadgets, embellishments, etc...you decide- after all, these are YOUR cards.
Remember: with postal changes, mail may take a bit longer. Mailing within the first week of the month will help insure they have their card in plenty of time to enjoy it. Obviously, if their occasion is within that first week, you’ll want to mail earlier.
CHALLENGES:
There will be a challenge posted once a month. It will be posted in the second post of each separate month, and also in the main AOCC16 thread. (this one) You may use the challenge, or not, in your card designs. They are just to get the mojo going.
POSTING YOUR CARDS:
Because this is a challenge group, it is encouraged that you post a link to your gallery where everyone can leave you LOVINS, in the appropriate thread for each month.
Because I know some of you get ahead of the game I've set the challenges for the entire month! I do plan to post my own cards this year to help inspire you. In the meantime, here are the links to all 12 months: AOCC17 January
Hi everyone!I meant to have my idea for keeping track of our cards uploaded today. However, I think my google account was hacked. Took me 7 hours yesterday (time I meant to spend crafting!) to convince Google I DID have an account with them. I could see my blogs, but couldn't do anything to them.
I've already told my boss I wasn't working today.. that I had repair work from yesterday's fiasco to repair. Hope to have the project uploaded by end of the day

A quick check in. I'm still playing catch up from my google account being hacked yesterday.
I have the basics of the 'card tracker' finished. Just need to do some typing either tonight after the dog goes to bed or early in the morning before I can post it up. I'm liking how the project is turning out so far and see it helping me stay on track.

I finally got this project finished. I really like how this bit of organization turned out. I won't go into all the details here. That is my blog post for today. But here's a picture to set things up.

The process took me over seven hours. Every time I'd try to log in, Google would tell me I didn't have an account.. yet I could see all of my blogs attached to the account. I did a recovery on my hard drive back to December then just kept requesting new passwords til something clicked with their system.
If you've not done so in awhile... CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS!

Rain, sleet, ick is to move in this afternoon. I went into town yesterday and got supplies just in case. They say depending on the tracking we could see anywhere between .25" and .75" of ice.
After breakfast I'm stocking up the firewood. Won't be cold but the heat will chase away the dampness.

so let's talk about how we keep track of the who/ how concerning cards. How do you keep track of your Birthday/ Anniversary list? How do you store your cards til they're ready to mail?
In the past, I kept a list by month in my dayplanner. Problem was, I'd look at the list at the beginning of the month but when I made cards I didn't refer back to it. So I thought this year I'd try a different approach. I'd keep the list behind the monthly tab and as I make cards, I have the list right in front of me, on my work table, to refer to. This allows me to look at a challenge and personalize the card to someone on my list. Could be a January birthday or a December anniversary. Doesn't matter. When I make the card, I can just drop it behind the tab. When the month is getting close, I can double-check to see what remaining cards I need.
Now to test-run the plan. ;-)

I have an old CTMH perpetual calendar with all the birthday/anniversaries written on it. It hangs in my craft room, where I can see it from my desk. Since I haven't been able to sit at my desk to craft for a couple of years, I forget to flip the month over for several months at a time. HOPING that once the organization gets done, I can sit there to work and look at what I need for the month. I have a couple of card boxes sorted by category and have been dropping cards in there as I get them done. Wondering if adding tabs for monrhs and dropping cards by month instead of theme would help to get them mailed on time.
Just read your blog post Kelly. I like that you put the year next to family names. I will go add that to my perp. calendar. Are the initials next to the other column of names where you know them from?
Yes, Angie. Helps me keep who is primary in which groups. In the SMMR group for example, we had to fill out our likes/ dislikes in stamp images so we could Taylor our cards to the person.
I have 10 Valentines made and only 1 January birthday card so far lol

LOL might. I have separate little boxes by theme for cards I make for challenges but don't need right away.. like sympathy, thinking of you, thank you... etc. I believe I did a blog post a couple years back. When I'm on the computer in the morning I will see if I can find it

Sharon posted a link in our other challenge: alphabet challenge. I think I will give this a try as well. I love to have as much inspiration as possible. I find I spend more time thinking about what to do then actually doing it, so I'm up for more ideas. I do tend to fall behind, but since there is no pressure or real deadline, I'm in. Thanks Kelly for this all occasion challenge! I'm Sally BTW.
Hi ladies. I sincerely apologize for dropping the ball this year. I'm glad I got the challenges for each thread posted early in the year.
A big thanks to Julie for following up with checking out your creations.
between the new day job and having the grandchildren for 4 months, things just had to give somewhere.
I have quit the day job for a variety of reasons but primarily to get my creative time back. I'll be playing more in 2018
Sadly, I can not carry this thread next year. I hope someone will step up and keep this thread for 2018.

Okay.. change of heart. If we're up for continuing into 2018.. I'm up for hosting. I might not always be able to comment but over the past few weeks I've realized how much I miss SCS and my SCS family.
I'm going to doublecheck to make sure no one has started a 2018 thread. If not, I'll post a link to the new thread by the weekend.
