I really want to try shaker cards. I have everything except acetate sheets. Does michaels sell them? If so, what aisle? I do not want to order online as I would like to make one tonight and send to a sick friend. I tried looking in Staples but that store is so big and I didn't have a chance to ask anyone there.

Different Michaels are set up very differently (which is why I can't find anything in one of them), but Staples, Office Depot, etc., should have them, and you can purchase a few sheets from their copy centers.
While I certainly wouldn't buy one just for this, if you do happen to have a laminator, I find that the leftover pieces are perfect for shaker cards. I laminate cards to store my clear and cling stamps on, but those cards are smaller than the "sleeves". I always have to cut a bit off the sides, and often, these pieces are big enough for a shaker window.
But I also save any good pieces of clear plastic from any kind of packaging.

If you're careful, you can also send a laminating pouch through with no cardstock in it, and it laminates to itself and you have a full sheet of crystal clear plastic for pennies! (If you're not careful, it can wrap around the rollers and you have to let the laminator cool down and disassemble it to clear the jam, then re-assemble it. Just sayin'...)
Thank you all. I had just come out of Staples before I posted this question, LOL. I couldn't find them and never thought of looking near the laminating machines, since I don't have one. I have to go to Michaels tomorrow and Office depot anyway so I will look again. Thanks for all the tips. :o)
I do the exact same thing. I've tried to find Acetate sheets like at Michaels but they don't carry it but I too, just end up using my packing from other items. Sometimes doesn't even need to be very heave duty plastic either. I've used some really thin packaging and it's done great. Give it a whirl and you may be surprised.

But, to answer your question about where to buy, just this very morning I saw a pack of acetate sheets on Amazon and they were a really good price also. I almost got some to have for die cutting and alcohol inking but not for shaker cards because the cheaper recycled products work really well. I've even used the real thin packaging from like a pack of rubber stamps. It holds up really well and it did great.
