Welcome to January 2017 VSBN - Beginnings! There will be 5 Challenges for our theme this month - Variety, Stash Busters, Sketch, Photo Inspiration, and Music. Since it's January, our theme is "Beginnings."
The Following Rules apply for playing along:
1. Use Key word "VSBN17Jan"
2. You have until January 31, 2017 to post your Challenge Pages
3. Be sure to Link Your Challenge Pages back to this Forum listing which challenge the page is for
4. Have Fun!
Our Variety Challenge is to scrapbook about beginnings (New Year, babies, trying a new food or book or tradition, moving to a new place, starting a new job, etc.).
Our Music Challenge is inspired by this famous song from the Carpenters: We've Only Just Begun. There are so many fun ways you could interpret the lyrics, so don't forget to tell us what inspired you!
We've only just begun to live
White lace and promises
A kiss for luck and we're on our way
We've only begun
Before the rising sun we fly
So many roads to choose
We start out walking and learn to run
And yes, we've just begun
Sharing horizons that are new to us
Watching the signs along the way
Talking it over just the two of us
Working together day to day
Together
And when the evening comes we smile
So much of life ahead
We'll find a place where there's room to grow
And yes, We've just begun
And for your listening / viewing pleasure: Gallery: VSBN17Jan
For Category 1 (Variety), I chose to scrapbook pictures of the start of a new year. This layout will also be the first page in a new album so a double beginning!
For Category 2 (Stash Busters), I had a hard time figuring out what items to put with some of the letters, but I finally got it all sorted out! My items are Buttons, Embossed cardstock, Grosgrain ribbon, It's a Guy Thing paper, and some Number stickers.
I did a double dip by combining Category 3 (Sketch) and Category 4 (Photo Inspiration), so I may have to go back and do one of those categories again. I think it's pretty easy to tell what my inspiration was from the photo. I actually had picked the photo out a couple weeks ago and had no idea what to scrap with it, so I'm glad I thought of these pictures!
Good challenges. I loved the Carpenters and I really love that song. I'll have to see if I can work one of the challenges into the page I'm currently working on.
And thank you to Sharon (smadson) for the invitation to participate in this! I really love scrapbooking but was not feeling it for the longest time. Now my daughters are in middle and high school and there are so many exciting things to scrapbook - things they do, places my husband and I go, activities I enjoy, etc. Thanks for the invitation to play!
Here are two pages for the Stash Buster Challenge: I forgot to say in the description, but I used things and papers that have been in my stash a long time! The circle outlines I have had for a while, as well as the two buttons, I still have thousand more of them!
I thought of the line "A kiss for luck and we're on our way" when I was putting this together inspired by the picture in the bottom right side of the double spread of my Dad and brother sharing a big smooch.
I actually put The Carpenters on while I worked on this! That's like dessert, right? Ha!

So glad I found this challenge. I need to finish some albums and use up the scrap booking supplies I've been holding on to for ten plus years. I used the sketch for a double page lay out.
This also qualifies for the Stash Busters Challenge. I used: brads, embellishments, grosgrain ribbon (the blue ribbon under the yellow ric rac), ink (I stamped the rockets onto the page) and number stickers. Thanks for the inspiration!

Here is mine for number 4. The views in my photos reminded me of the tracks.
I didn't think I was going to get this one done. Thanks Cheryl.. Making a dent in my 80s photos! very small dent. I have a whole white shoe box size box of envelopes of photos with the year, month and event written on them. LOL

I have missed working on progressive pages, so I decided that the last VSBN challenge for this month would be mine. Here is my take and interpretation of the music challenge...
