Okay, since I started this challenge in New York, I'll end it in New York.
When I was in college in Rochester, before we got SPRING, we got "spring". That period of time in which the formerly beautiful snow is melty, grey, slushy and full of salt from the roads. Most definitely not its finest hour.
We just grit our teeth and held on for lilacs.
So I thought today, in honor of melting H20, we should try some salted watercolor.
To do this technique, you just need a water-based medium. Water-based dye inks work, and so do watercolors. If you are using traditional watercolor, please note that the more pure pigment you have down on the paper, the better the results. Also, the larger the salt crystal the better - I like to use flaked sea salts.
We do have a tutorial in the tutorials section for this technique here.
I did a half sheet of watercolor paper, and then die cut it to make Christmas ornaments. I can't wait to see what you do!

Is anyone else having problems with the link to the tutorial? I get an error message that says "disallowed key characters". And if I go to the tutorials page, and type in Salted Watercolor, I get an error message, also. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Done!!! My last card for the FF16 event. It's been fun...and made a good dent in the cards for my Christmas inventory. Thank you, Lydia. I know a lot of work and planning went into it.
Lydia- awesome challenge! I went with a bath scene (Epsom salts perhaps?) and used some washi tapes for borders. Added a pair of ribbons for further embellishments, and employed kids' watercolors, Q tips, kosher salt and my blow dryer to make my card: FF16UnderstandBlueB pampered

Oh man! What a struggle! That's why they call it a challenge right? I tried this with all different papers and inks. Ultimately landed on my alcohol inks:

Thanks for a couple of really fun weeks! I have two more challenges to do before being completely caught up. So happy that I am getting to do them all this time!
I am pretty sure that this is the most embarrassingly awful card that I have put in the gallery in a long, long time. I have NEVER been able to make this technique turn out and the rest of the card followed right along. But I'm going to link it so that I have all the cards done and then I might go try again...
Last card...whew...what fun. Thank you to all of you who put in all the time to share your talents and make this a fun two weeks of creativity and trying so many new things! I have really enjoyed this and learned so much along the way.
I can't believe I made it to the end!
Waah, I totally blew my first attempt. That's what I get for leaving it till the last minute, had to take the hairdryer to this one to get it finished.
