Default TLC604 ~ Reverse Image ~ {9/19/16}

Hi there, everyone! Happy Fall, y'all!

Today's featured technique, the REVERSE IMAGE TECHNIQUE, is not to be mistaken for the "Mirrored Image Technique."

I've included some close up pics below to help explain this extremely easy and very versatile technique. Please feel free to ask questions if you have them.

Use your creative imagination and let's see what you come up with by posting in the...

TLC604 THE REVERSE IMAGE GALLERY.

There are two ways to have fun with this technique. The first uses a fine line polymer image of Asymmetrical character and a marker(s).

1. Position the image REVERSE SIDE UP onto an acrylic block.
2. Using the brush tip of a marker, follow the lines of the image showing through from the right side.
3. Moisten with breath and stamp inked image.
4. Clean and reposition the image RIGHT SIDE UP onto the block.
5. Ink image as usual and stamp.

The steps above are the ones used to create the wheat images shown below. And you can see these images in action featured in my journal sample HERE. Notice how the Reverse Image creates a background effect making the wheat look as though there is some in the distance while the actual image looks close in nature.

The other way to create this technique is with a fine line polymer image of symmetrical character and an ink pad.

1. See step 1 above.
2. Ink reverse side in ink pad.
3. Stamp inked image.
4. See step 4 above.
5. See step 5 above.

Notice the flower in my samples below. It was created using this particular method of the Reverse Image Technique. I used the Baby Wipe Technique as my ink pad for the flowers seen in my journal sample HERE.

Y'all are some of the most creative peeps I've seen to participate in the daily challenges so I am ecstatic to see your creative offerings! Ready, set, GO INSPIRE !!!

Great idea! I've done it with the entire back of the stamp, but never tried it the way you showed -- just coloring the image with markers. Wouldn't it be something if stamp companies started making photopolymer stamps designed to be used this way -- two sided? It would work as long as they were kept clean to stick to the acrylic block. Consider the possibilities!!! Just throwing the idea out there.

Is there a way to do this with using regular rubber stamps (not clear)?

Melody, you could probably try the second version with an unmounted rubber stamp, as long as there is no adhesive on the back of the stamp.

You may very well be onto something, Linda ;)

Not that I can come up with. I've tried a few twists but each twist ends up being more like the Mirrored Image Technique. Play with it and see what you come up with and then do tell... I have great faith in your creativity ;)

Yes, I tried this, Sandy... thx for encouraging. My markers stained my images without a sticker (not too happy about that but easy fix...) WITH a sticker works fairly well though.

Heart TLC604 Got Candy?

Kelly Jean- awesome technique! I experimented with using a darker outline and then a lighter stamped image on top, but that didn't work, so I went to a darker image and lighter outline for my monster. Added some Halloween paper strips, and a washi tape vertical border. Used a yellow googlie eye for my monster! Here's Got Candy?

You might gather this is one of my fave techniques (insert smirkish smile). I personally love how this technique so easily adds a ton of color to really pop a fine line image. Posting this one from my phone and have no clue how to go advance so here's the link to my "REVERSE BLOOM..."

Hmmm... I'm not quite sure I understand. The gallery is up and going well. The original challenge post has a workout mg link to the gallery. Your beautiful card was the very first offering (after me me) to make it into the gallery. I noticed on your gallery post there are a few letters after the TLC604... perhaps you should remove those and see what happens. Hope that helps

Not quite finished yet, but I took my rubber stamp and stamped it on a piece of paper, put the paper under my acrylic block and colored over the image then huffed and stamped. I also found it heloful to put a little extra re-inker on the tip of my marker to get a little better color onto the block. I'll post my card in a few minutes when I make a flower to put on it, Hope this helps those with rubber stamps.

Well - after a half dozen EPIC FAILS, I was ready to give this technique up as a lost cause for me. . . BUT my personality is such that I CAN"T walk away from a challenge! So one more try this afternnoon and altho I'm not totally happy with the result, I am at least willing to let this one go public:

Interesting technique. Thank you Kelly. I don't have clear stamps, so I experimented with a wood-mounted stamp. I tried & failed, but I posted it anyway. Thanks for the challenge!

I have few clear stamps so I chose this circle one for this process and I love how it turned out.

This was fun to try - finally!! But I won't be able to take a photo and upload it tomorrow. I admit I did find it hard to get my stamp to stick to the block the wrong way, and maybe markers and huffing would have been better than distress inks. But I played - and I'll be along tomorrow. Thanks, KellyJean!

And here it is.

In the end I used the card that was only partially stamped, but I will be turning the other one into another Christmas card for my stash.
