Default Nuvo crystal drops- yeah or nay?

So it seems the hot thing is Nuevo crystal drops. Anyone have good or bad results with them. I want them but guess what - I never even buy enameled dots!

I'm a new fan. You can make fun dots - just squeeze them out onto wax paper and what I do is tap the paper with my fingernail to make the top of the dot round out - then let dry. They dry shiny and glittery and awesome. I really like them.

I love them too! Joanna just had them for 50% off so I got a bunch. My one stamping friend has all of them and got me hooked. They keep their shape and are so pretty!

They are easy to use and you can get a good variety of sizes and depths of dots with a little practice. Lots of colors, too. That said, it's not my thing because you have a bit of a wait to dry and they look a little fussy for my style. If you like gems and dots and sequins, go for it.

I've been using them for awhile now, and really like them. The feature I like most of all is that they seem to hold their shape, rather than getting squashed when mailing. Be careful, they can be addicting to add to your cards!!!! ;)

Default Same effects as liquid pearls, or different?

I have a ton of liquid pearls. If anyone has Nuvo and liquid pearls, do these two products produce the same results or are there differences? Thanks!

I like them but I can't seem to get the dots to be as flat as the enamel dots one purchases, any suggestions?

After you squeeze them out, just drum your fingers on the desk next to them, it settles them right down

Jennifer Mcguire has a recent video using them. It's the video with the 'blessings' stamp.

Stamp Layering With One Ink Color + GIVEAWAY - Jennifer McGuire Ink

Nuvo drops are shown/discussed at 13:51. Jennifer holds the card face up and taps it on the back to even out the drops, which she says look like enamel dots. Good enough for me! Thanks for the video mention, Lesley.

Default There are three types of nuvo drops.......

I found the answer to my question on YouTube. So for anyone who had the same question that i did, pearl is only one of the types of Nuvo Drops that they have to date. The other two types are glitter and glossy and the glossy type would look like enamel dots. In one video the reviewer said most of the glossy are pastel but there are a few brights.

Here are search results for other YouTube videos about Nuvo Drops:

No, they feel and look just like enamel dots. They take a little practice, but not much.

I got some and love them...BUT I did expect them to be harder. I can put a mark in them with my fingernail...is that normal? And, if so....will sending them through the mail possibly mark them up too? I'll still use them cause I really like them, but had hoped they would dry harder so they wouldn't get nicked easily.

I bit the bullet and got these too - I found them at Paper Wishes for a good price - I figured if I was going to do this I wanted a few colors so this was the way I went. You get 11 colors for $29.59 - I'm pretty sure I searched for a coupon for them, maybe signed up for their newsletter and got an additional 15% off.

I like the fact that they hold their shape - so much better than stickles. I watched a video of a gal making raindrops with them and thought that was really cute.

Here's the link to paper wishes if anybody is interested -

Ok, another bullet biter here LOL

I had to have the glossy ones so I just ordered the 12 glossy colors. I never wanted to get into melting the plastic beads to make enamel dots and, with the Nuvo, you can make whatever size dot you want. Like Bugga, I'm excited to get them too now!

I have other products in my stash that I already use for the glitter and pearl dots that I'm happy with.

One YouTube reviewer did say that the Nuvo pearl dots dried harder than the liquid pearls do, but I haven't had issues with my liquid pearls getting damaged on my projects unless I intentionally poked them.

I really wanted them too but then I saw this and now I dont know:

It isnt the worst thing on the planet but stuff I think people should know.

If other people are getting them to dry completely hard, I would be wondering if humidity affects them?

Wavejumper, I just watched the Honest Review, and I still want the Crystal Dots. I don't plan on making any shapes like she did, ghosts, pumpkins, etc. I'll just make dots, and probably the larger ones, which seem to do better overall.

Also, she talked about the dots flattening in a scrapbook, which I don't do either.

I make and send lots of cards, and I don't think a slight flattening effect will be noticeable or bother me on cards.

What product do you use to make 3d water droplets? (glossy accents, viva decor transparent pearl pen, etc) I see the Nuvo does not come in transparent.

I like Crystal Drops and have no problems with them, but my drops are small. I like Glossy Accents occasionally, and once in a while the little plastic Clear Droplets, by Pretty Pink Posh, 4- or 6-mm. They're not self-adhesive, which I like. I don't have Viva Decor's clear but really like the product.

Oops, you were asking Waverunner, not people in general - sorry about that.

Of all the dots I've used over the years, I swear by Novo Crystal drops. I watched the video and didn't have the issues presented. I only have the colored drops. I'm not a huge fan of glitter, so they might perhaps work or look significantly different from the normal colors. As for them not being solid, I can't answer that. I've never attempted to remove them nor have I attempted to use my nail to see if they're pliable. All I know is that you can make them large or small without effort. I have never had hersey kisses when using this product. I don't think I'd ever use another product besides Novo. I think they're great. Just saying.

My understanding from a video I watched was that Nuvo level better and flatter and they are hard like enamel dots not squishy like Liquid Pearls.

I haven't tried that yet, but I think a friend of mine said she did and it worked good...so that would be a great option for colored ones!

One thing I have found that I didn't see mentioned here is the temperature. The colder your room temp the thicker the product seems to be causing domes and peeks. If I warm them up a bit they come out perfect! Just my experience here....

I've never heard of Nuvo Drops, and even though they sound great, I'm not going to look them up, or look at any of the videos on them. I absolutely refuse to find some other great product I can't live without. It's happened more times than I can possibly count - see it here, promptly buy whatever it is in every size, shape, color it comes in. Not doing it this time. Nope. (If I succeed, it will be the first time in 9 years. lmbo)

I bought the 12 gloss colors and swatched them out today and I am very happy with them. Nice, glossy, shining enamel look and very dimensional.

They were very self-leveling. Something I tried that I read in the instructions was to be sure not to touch the paper with the applicator tip when I applied them to the paper and I got a nice, rounded top with no peaking.

That said, two of the colors were a little thicker than the others and they did not come out of the applicator as easily as the other, thinner colors, so I'm not sure what that is about but they were ok once I got them flowing. I do see potential for peaking with these 2 thicker ones, though, so they may need a tap when I use them.

Thanks, OP, for enabling

I just circled back to this thread and wanted to see if people like it now that they have it-sounding goooood! I got one in copper color but I havent played yet with it. I always test in metallics

BJeans-I dont think she was talking only to me

I am still in experiment mode with raindrops. I did get one pack of the pretty pink posh but they look like clear drops to me-not so much rain. Needs work on my part. The stamps I got from Ryn look great but they are big! Sigh.

Enamel dots are my go-to embellishment, so I did invest in a few Nuvo gloss colors. I've tested them out - applied to my kraft sheet, then let them dry for 48 hours (package says 24, but I figured a bit of extra drying time wouldn't hurt). Nuvo dots are solid and look just like enamel dots. They feel a little more flexible - as in, you can bend them in half if you push on the edges, but they're not so delicate that they can't be picked up and glued to the card. I have adhered them with Ranger's Multi-Matte adhesive and they worked great.

The main reason why I got them is because I wanted to be able to make small and tiny dots. I love sprinkling small dots around my cards, and I always seem to run out of the smallest sizes in my enamel dot packs. I think Nuvo drops will work perfectly for that.

Another plus is that I was able to pick up a couple of purple shades. There aren't a whole lot of purple enamel dots (Doodlebug's Lilac sprinkles are the only ones I could find consistently, and they can get pricey), so having an extra option for purple dots was really nice.

I have not tried making any other shapes, but I was pleased with how easy it was to create a perfectly round dot of different sizes. So, I'll probably keep an eye out for new colors and may pick up a few extra colors over time.
