Default MIX175-Watercolor Lifting

Challenge title: WATERCOLOR LIFTING-with heat embossing
Hostess:
MariLynn
Keyword: MIX175
View the gallery for this challenge HERE.

Last week Kyra got us all ready for summer with a mix challenge at the beach. I don't know about you but I might need a little more exercise before I'm ready to hit the beach. So bend... twist... lift. We are going to be lifting today, but you probably wont break a sweat. We are going to do watercolor lifting- with heat embossing. I found this really cool technique shared by Jennifer McGuire- Watercolor Lifting with Heat Embossing. I thought it was a really fun and easy technique that we could all try.

To make your project mixed media you need to used at least 2 types of art media. You already have your watercoloring media you only need to add one more. See how easy it is? To see a list of what you could use check it out HERE.

We want everyone to feel welcome to join in. So you can do a card, an art journal, a 3-d piece, or whatever your heart desires as long as it has 2 or more media.

When you are uploading your project make sure you put in the correct keyword (MIX175). We recommend that you copy and paste it to avoid typos.

I hope you have as much fun with this technique as I did.

In some ways this reminds me a little of the Emerging Colour technique, even though that is more of a resist one. I think it's the different colours under the clear EP that made me think of that one...

It was fun! MIX175 Singing Between the Lines

I've seen that video, meant to try the technique but forgot about it. Thank you for linking to it!

Dumb question: since mixed media is two or more media, wouldn't watercolors + embossing powder be two? Or since the embossing powder is a resist in this case and doesn't actually show up, it doesn't count as one? (I bet that's it.) So make pretend I also embossed an image elsewhere on the card with gold or black - would that count as the second medium? (I know, who's on first, right?)

This took alot longer to accomplish than I had anticipated . . . .and is actually my 3rd try at this technique.
The Snow is Lifting by bubblestx4 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

Now I'm gonna go back & see if I can salvage either of the 1st two . . .We'll see

I revisited my first background piece and am now happy with the salvaged card. Sometimes I just have to twist it every which way before the vision comes into focus . . . .

I had fun with this, the idea in my head was to us a constellation background stamp with the sentiment embedded between them all.... which I then discovered I do not own a constellation background stamp ( must still be on the mental wish list) anyways... its kinda streaky, and I have ideas of how to do it again ( maybe with better results) but, the big part is I had fun with this one Marilynn, thanks.

She made it look so easy, but both my tries were failures! :(

I tried two different cards with this technique - definitely need more practice! Fun technique though. Here is the only survivor of my attempts:

Feeling Happy by Sleeper's Wife - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

I had never tried this technique until now. My first attempt was not what I expected as the purple was too dark but it turned into a great card using it as a frame. The second attempt seemed to be too light so I'm going to do a couple of more attempts to see if I can perfect it. Great challenge for me! Thanks!
